Here's the story. Years ago I had built a few 6 cylinder Spitfires. Two of them got 2. 0 l engines out of GT 6's (go fast gt 6) and one got a mighty 2. 5 l out of this car. It took more work. had to modify the oil pan ect. but was cool when done.
Anyway. this belonged to a friend of mine who had a plan. small block chevy V 8 with a turbo 350. The thought process was if more is better than too much is just right. He got it together enough to cruise it around town a little but like many of his projects. parked and never really completed it. He recently bought a 80's Corvette that needed an engine and that was it for the TR 6.
Even though this little guy has spent years in an enclosed concrete floor garage. not a "barn find" (don't like that term. dirt floors make them rust and all kinds of critters decide to move in. ) it's a little rough. not rusted out but has some dings and scratches . NO critters have lived in it.
The V 8 engine mounts are still there. welded in place. the firewall and front part of the floorboards have been cut to fit the V 8 and automatic trans. The lower edge/front corner of the front fenders were trimmed for exhaust outlet.
It looks like the car was originally royal blue. Windshield and side windows are good. The red line radials are not quite as bald as my head but are holding air and there are 5 of them.
The top is toasted but the frame for the top is good. It has a nice walnut dash and all gauges are present. The odometer shows 42675 miles but I don't know if it's correct. The seats are ok not torn. There is a trunk load of parts.
I have restored cars that were worse off than this one and everything is avallible for theses guys through Victoria British and Moss. I just don't have the time or funds right now to take this one on.
I have a clear Illinois title in hand. I check my email around 8 pm cst and will get back to you as soon as I can if you have any questions. The TR is for sale locally so I may end the auction early The car will need to be picked up within 14 days of the end of the auction. I have a trailer and may be able to deliver within 100 miles of my home for $6. 50 per mile cash.
