Technical specifications, photos and description:
This Westy was originally a weekender, previous owner wanted to remove the rear cabinet and upper original cabinet/storage and opt for custom made rear over head storage and a larger lower bunk sleeping area. All work was done by GoWesty.
This van has a clean California title, has lived in CO and VA prior to being here in Ca since 2010 . It is a rust free, accident free van.

I purchased this van from the seller back in January of 2020 with 226k miles on it , he has a close business relationship with Lucas the owner of GoWesty here in Los Osos, Ca.
The owner that I purchased it from said he paid close to $75k for it and there was some special discounts along with the deal.
I personally paid $50,000 for the van back in 2020 and my intentions were to go through it thoroughly and I sure have done that with meticulous attention to details. The entire process took over 18 months.
It just got done in January of 2022 and has not been camped in at all.
I have extensive build receipts from GoWesty , including the 2600 cc motor rated at 130 hp with 180 FT-LBS of torque, full transaxle build along with front locker, decouper, posi-traction differential , drive shaft, axles list goes on and on etc...
Full suspension , drive train, upper, lower, rack and pinion, rear extended arm suspension, wheel bearings, Fox shocks all around, GoWesty 2 inch lift springs. Everything was replaced.
After I purchased the van, here is a list of all the things that has been done since 226k miles
The entire 2600 cc engine was taken down to the long block for full inspection thorough external cleaning on an engine stand.
All exhaust parts(full GoWesty stainless steel exhaust, headers, catalytic converter, muffler and tail pipe., sandblasted and refinished in high temp paint) the stainless steel that GoWesty uses on their exhaust have pits after a few years, I decided to give it a nice clean up and a full paint job.
All engine tins, removed for sandblasting and refinished in high temp ceramic paint
Rear engine mustache bar and undercarriage support bars were sandblasted and refinished in engine enamel.
4 Brand new motor mounts
Brand new transmission mount
All metal coolant lines and intake runners , throttle body etc were all sent to sandblasting and repainted with engine enamel
All the engine fuel lines are brand new with braided sleeves added, Oetiker pinchless clamps are used.
New intake manifold sleeves
New throttle body seal
New inner and outer fuel injector seals
New intake manifold gaskets
New NGK iridium spark plugs
New thermostat, new temp sensor, new low and high pressure oil sensors
New Graf water pump
New fuel filter
New Air filter
Brand new rear main seal, pilot bearing
Brand new Sachs clutch/pressure kit and resurfaced flywheel with proper shimming prior to install
All engine related coolant hoses are all brand new Meyle
Brand new updated GoWesty Coolant Expansion tank and their Coolant level sensor conversion kit
Brand new over flow tank
Existing GoWesty stainless steel coolant lines are in perfect shape as well as the Behr radiator that was replaced back in 2012.
Full coolant flush and new phosphate free 50/50 with distilled water
New radiator fan switch
It has the latest and greatest GoWesty EFI system with OBD reader.
I had the EFI updated recently at Broad Street Auto in San Luis Obispo.
Entire fuel tank and related components were complete gone through back in 2012 by GoWesty
New sending unit, new fuel hose inside the tank, new filler neck grommet, fuel guage calibration, stainless steel tank saddle and strap set. Everything is in great shape. I just had the fuel filter replaced for good measures.
Onto the transaxle,
It's a 5 speed trans, Low gear and 4 forward gears.
The entire build just for the transaxle was $15,000. It was fully rebuilt at 199k miles with 4th gear having the taller 0.82 gear for lower rpm highway cruising.
This has the added front and rear locking differential on the fly, known as the triple knob
Rear Axles have the larger Porsche 930' style CV Joints
Transaxle and all related syncro drivetrain fluids all have been replaced with Redline 75/90 w full synthetic oil
Decoupler front and rear works flawlessly
Kit entire set up now would easily cost you over $20k and they are now super hard to source.
Transmission has the GoWesty shifter upgrades, shifts nicely into all gears
I has the GoWesty big front brake kit on it , I had the front brakes replaced with new rotors, new pads and new wheel bearings.
Rear brakes are also new with new shoes, new wheel ATE cylinders and Zimmerman drums.
Both front and rear brake lines are braided stainless steel hoses.
Slave cylinder and master cylinders were both replaced by previous owner by GoWesty.
Full brake and clutch fluid flush with new brake fluids.
Onto the paint work, previous owner did not opt for the paint restoration with GoWesty back in 2012 since he was ok with the original paint at the time, he just wanted the Rhino liner applied along with other touch ups which he only spent $3500 on the exterior and undercoating while everything was removed from the undercarriage.
I had the entire van stripped basically down to nothing, all windows removed, all doors removed and glass.vent windows, all door seals removed, pop top removed, luggage rack removed as well as entire interior(seats, door panels and dash, curtains were removed)
All exterior bumpers, power mirrors , all lights, hook ups etc....removed
I did not want any over spray or and all door jambs to match in color. All the front doors , slider door and rear hatch have been completely repainted inside and out.
Entire rear deck and rear seat areas were completely repainted, these ares gets scratched up due to use and storage.
Pop top and luggage rack and all the hardware , skylight, rear hinge etc was stripped off before painting and I made sure painter put on 4 coats of clear
It was repainted in it's original color, Savannah Beige Metallic paint code LH1V. I am pretty sure this paint job came out much nicer than it did from the factory .
Paint used is made by PPG with 4 coats of clear, color sanded and buffed out to perfection. Rhino line to lower body panels and inside door jambs wear areas is Raptor X, same stuff GoWesty used originally.
Both power mirrors were stripped down, glass removed , hardware removed prior to painting. Came out super nice this way.
I spent close to $20,000 just for full paint restoration
Pop top headliner was thoroughly cleaned, no mold spots or stain on the headliner. New GoWesty 3 window cotton tent, I like cotton since the original tent was cotton and it lasted 30 years. And it breathes easier than their Acrylic option.
New pop top seal all around
New Skylight , Bronze tint along with brand stainless steel hardware, new operator and new sunshade, new seal and bug screen sourced from GoWesty. New WESTFALIA decal on the rear.
Luggage rack has all stainless steel cleats, stainlesss steel mounting hardware, drainage hole screens, new seal. New WESTFALIA decal
Interior has had a full detail, all seats were thoroughly cleaned, all curtains hand washed, all upper bedding was removed and machine washed.
The mattress is custom made by GoWesty, it's 6 feet long by 5 feet wide and super comfortable. More like a memory foam material, a super durable vinyl cover material and has been thoroughly cleaned.
All interior panels as well as slider door, rear hatch, both front doors have sound deadening material throughout . Both front doors closes with a resounding thud.
All glass has been tinted while it was off. The slider windows were removed prior to tinting and put back together. Both slider windows have new felt strips. All glass have ceramic tint through out .
Windshield is brand new as well , tinted with legal 70% ceramic tint. What is the point of spending this much money and still look through a windshield that is over 30 years old with pits in it.
All glass rubber seal moldings are brand new made in Germany
Driver side and all other glass are tinted 30%, so you can still see through them at night.
I spent $700 in just tinting alone
The 3 hook ups are for
1. 110 v to charge up the accessory marine battery
2. air compressor hook up ( previous owner removed the compressor)
3. 12v cigarette type outlet works off of the accessory battery

Has a brand new Interstate starter battery
Has a 900watt inverter with 2 100v outlets, behind the driver side seat.

Onto the dash, it was completely removed.
The entire fan/heater box was dismantled and cleaned thoroughly of all the dust and dirt. All the vent flaps(they disintegrate over time) have brand new synthetic foam. New blower fan motor.
Fan works in all 3 speeds, heater works perfectly.
This van has been stripped off all its a/c components for better rear cargo over head storage. The A/C system in these vans never any good. This was the option prior owner wanted.
Instrument cluster has been the updated with GoWesty Replacement kit for printed foil, new LCD clock screen
All interior lights works as it should, dash map light, over head light and rear passenger lights have all been replaced with LED bulbs.
Dash has new GoWesty 12v outlet
Stereo is a brand new Kenwood BT328, has all the new latest iPhone, iPod friendly paring , blue tooth, and a remote . Works off of the 2nd marine battery.

Headlights have been thoroughly cleaned inside and out as they get cloudy on the inside with age.
Brand new LED low and high beam bulbs
Headlight grill has prepped and refinished in satin black
Brand new VW grill emblem
The lower grill kit with LED day light running bulbs turns on with the running lights. Lower grill has been refinished in satin black.
Rear marker lights are brand new along with LED bulbs
Rear license plate lights are cleaned and have LED bulbs.
All signal lights, and all tail lights bulbs are brand new.
Rear HID accessory light mounted on rear bumper works great, see pictures and video.
All windshield wipers, exterior door handles were sanded down, primed and repainted satin black along with brand new wiper blades.
All exterior door handles have new seals
New windshield and rear hatch sprayer washer nozzles
New Hirschmann antenna
Entire suspension set up was replaced by GoWesty back in 2012
Bushings, upper A-Arm, upper ball joints, strut rod bushings, lower ball joints, rebuilt rack and pinion, progressive rate springs, Fox front and rear shocks, upper ball joint spacer kit, rear suspension arms lengthened, rear wheel bearings etc.
I just replaced the two front tie rod ends as the boots showed their age, everything else is in good shape.
GoWesty 16 inch alloys with BFGoodrich KO2 235/70/17 tires, 2 of them are brand new 02/2022 due to camber wear , the other 2 and the spare wheel are in great condition.
With is wheel and shock set up, the ride is stiff but it handles amazing.
Previous owner used it for his commute to work 5 miles away thus majority of the 26k miles came from. He took it to SyncroFest a few times but did not do anything extreme per him , undercarriage condition indicates that he never did and a few road trips during his ownership.
Full 4 wheel alignment just done 02/2022
I did not install a rear spare tire carrier since there are many options for this, I decided to let the new owner install their own that will work best for their needs. A matching spare GoWesty 16 inch wheel and tire is included( see picture)
All weather floor mats are brand new sourced from GoWesty. I installed an RV type of floor mat over the existing floor( still in great shape) in the passenger rear areas. All interior carpets are in great shape and super clean.
Both front seats( bolsters are in great condition) and rear seats are in great shape, see pictures/video.
I have spent over 300 personal hours on this van, plus the cost of parts and paint.
I have a thick folder of all receipts from myself and previous owner.
My buy it now price is much less than what I have invested into the entire project. This does not factor in all my personal time into it. This has been a true labor of love, not for profit.
I am super happy how everything turned out.
I would not hesitate to take this cross country and back.
With the GoWesty 2.6 L motor, it is quick and cruises easily at 75 mph at 3500 rpms. Torque kicks in at 3000 rpms. Pulls hard and has a great power curve.
I have put on over 100 miles to shake it down and tidy everything up as needed.
I have not camped in this fully cleaned and fully restored Westy. It's ready for a new owner.
It passed strict Ca emissions with flying colors in Feb/2022
Registration is current until Jan/2023
I own the vehicle, it is titled under my name and I own it outright.
