A 1956 Austin FV flatbed lorry in nice working condition. Six cylinder petrol engine and four speed gear box. MOT test exempt. Road tax exempt. and currently on classic vehicle insurance. We have run this little lorry along-side our modern trucks. and have mainly used it for helping with the village fete and the Horticultural Show. It is only 19 ft long. with a 13 ft 6" wooden flat bed. so it works well for this sort of thing. It is fairly demanding to drive. You need to learn how to double de-clutch. there is no power steering. and comfortable cruising speed is about 40 mph. It takes a day or two to get used to - then you drive it without thinking about it. The engine is only 2600 cc. so it is cheaper to run than you might imagine. Admittedly. it has been a few years since its restoration (Photographs available). so you may feel that some cosmetic work is now needed in places - or you could just enjoy driving a vintage lorry in working clothes. which is what we have done. The wooden body. with its little drop down tail gate. was professionally built new at the time of restoration. and is very well done. I don't really want to sell - but I got married in August - and something has to go !!!! The Tax disc is current to April 2014. the original brown cardboard log book is in the cab - as are the drivers old cigarette packets. and the truck has only had two owners before myself.
