Classic VW Beetle. Tax Free. Superb engine and starter. for sale
Current customer rating:
This is a 1971 Classic VW Beetle. It is violet and silver in colour and has some very rare and funky hub caps. It is such fun to drive. mechanically sound and makes that classic Beetle engine sound that we all love when driven.
It recently had £777 spent on it . which included the fitting of new brake discs. brake adjusters. new fuses. rear wheel cylinders and ignition barrel. It runs very well. and I have been advised by a Beetle specialist that is drives extremely well and the engine is very good. The last MOT expired in June 2016.
It has a working stereo with 4 speakers. There is no heating but all other electrics are good.
However. although it drives very well please be aware that this beetle
needs work to the body. The biggest issue is the extent of the corrosion to the car. Some of the previous repairs have been made in a way that the body and floorpan are now welded together rather than separate and bolted together.
The areas that require attention welding wise are important structural areas:Front frame head behind front axle (would require front axle removal to repair properly)Front frame head bottom plate corroded/ holed and previous poor repairs (including gaffer tape/ sealant)Front frame head bottom plate surrounding areas: front central chassis support (napoleons hat panel). front of central spine. front outer bulkhead all corroded and holed within 30 cms of body mountings. Near side front inner wing corroded and holed. Nearside rear floorpan corroded and holed within 30 cms of a structural component. Nearside heater channel rear closing panel corroded and holed within 30 cm of suspension/ body mounting. Nearside rear inner wing corroded and holed within 30 cms of body mounting. Nearside rear body mounting bracket corroded/ broken.
Please bear this in mind when bidding.
