Caterham
The company Caterham Cars was founded in 1973 Graham Niarnom. Prior to this Caterham Cars existed as one of the main dealers Lotus Cars. In 1967, when the company became a major distributor of the most popular sports car company Lotus Seven, actually began its rise. However, in an independent manufacturer Caterham Cars formed only in 1973, when it has obtained all the rights to manufacture and sell the Lotus Seven.
It is interesting, that the first Roadster company Caterham Cars, released in 1974, is an exact copy of the car Lotus 7, but not 4, actual at the moment, but has received a cool reviews and modest results, and 3 generations. It is Caterham 7 is made to this day, continues to win the race, but of many automotive magazines is considered as the best car of the 20th century.
Previously the company's production Keyteram Kars was located in the same city, but in 1984 it "moved" to the British Datfort. Until 1994, Caterham Cars do not produce radically new models with constant improvements of appearance of the engine and the "seven". It is interesting that Keyteram Kars some time bring their cars to inhabitants of Britain in dismantled form, to avoid the high road tax.
In spite of the fact that all the cars Caterham Cars have been used and are popular in other countries, their equipment often differ. The reason lies in the law on the regulation of greenhouse gases, which differs in Britain and other European countries.
At the present moment the company produces this model in several variants, with engines from 105 up to 260 HP.
There are also cars, prepared by different tuning Studio. One of the most unique is the project of the British company RS Performance, built with the use of technologies of Formula-1 - supercar Caterham RS Levante (40-valve engine RST-V8 with compressor, the working volume of 2,4 litres, capacity of more than 500 HP at 10,000 rpm, acceleration 0-100 km/h about 2.5 seconds, top speed 250 km/h (restricted), dry weight of 520 kg). In its specific power (about 1000 HP./ton) of this car is approaching the fireball of a class Formula-1.
Find car Caterham on the auction is not so difficult. These machines are regularly appear in the sale, the price for the model 2005 - in the area of 15 thousand pounds.
