BMW 700 - this mikrolitrazhnyy zadnemotornyy car produced by the German BMW since August 1959 in September 1965. His predecessor served BMW 600, but he had the usual body В«sedanВ» (in most cases) with two doors. In touring car Atelier Karosserie Baur also produced the version of the В«coupeВ» and В«convertibleВ».
Boxer engine in the BMW 700 was 2-uhcilindrovym, volume of 697 see³ and air cooling. In the small car was set chetyrehskorostnaya manual gearbox. Small motor developed a capacity of 32 HP and dispersed the compact car up to 125 km/h. Weight of the machine was 640-690 kg depending on the modification. Fuel consumption also was minimal - about 7 liters per 100 km.
From 1960 to establish the production of the BMW 700 RS, the racing version with the engine capacity of 70 HP., as well as models of the 700 Sport and BMW LS Luxus.
BMW 700 was a model, which has saved the German company from bankruptcy at the end of the 50-ies. By April 1960 - the year was registered with the maximum rate of sales - 155 cars a day. Total number of issued copies for 5 years production has reached 188 221 pieces.
