Please find here the rare opportunity to buy one very special Hillman Avenger. Now for sale after undergoing a complete back to bare shell rebuild. It will come with a large collection of spare parts including Engine. Gearbox. Panels. Ignition. Suspension. Trim. Glass. Exacton wheels etc etc
Essentially a fully ready to go stage Rally Car with MSA log book but is good enough to use as a show car or for pleasure as its only covered 400mls Road miles from completion.
You will find this car 100% rust free and has been seam welded. Gusseted and strengthened in various areas prior to being painted in Two pack Yellow. a shade close to that of the Tigers of the era. The under bonnet is as smooth and clean as the outside with great attention to detail being carried out to make it a tidy and simple area to work in. The windows are polycarbonate and still work with regulators as fitted and I will also supply the original glass if this is not to your taste. The roll cage is a full Safety Devices item with bolt in door bars so you can remove the driver's side for ease of access if not using it as a competition car. Its pointed in to the screen pillars x2 and mounted with the correct floor plates.
The Bonnet is fibre glass with a frame fitted while the boot remains a mint condition steel item. doors have all been sorted and locking etc in full working condition so it can be locked up if required. Door cards are all lightweight items and the doors themselves close like new. All in all panel wise its very very straight and clean and gathers attention as soon as its spotted on the road.
Suspension is Bilstein both front and rear with 195lb and 210lb springs. roller bearing tops and new heavy duty bush's etc. Quick rack with new rod ends and the steering column has new bush's fitted. This all in all gives it a very new and tight feeling on the road and I've got to say you will be impressed with how well it handles. It has a very positive feel making it a pleasure to be out in whilst giving you the confidence to throw about if you want to.
The engine is something we don't know much about as it was put together by and ex Rolls Royce mechanic and simply fitted by ourselves. The mountings are the solid doughnut type and secure the engine with no movement yet no harsh vibration etc. The car was recently set up properly on a rolling road session and produces 110 BHP at the wheels with the Dyno sheet provided for your records. The carbs were stripped and cleaned accordingly with new rebuild kits. Brand new Malpassi fuel regulator. all new braided fuel line front to rear and a pair of red top pumps fitted in the boot as the pictures show. the fuel tank was a brand new Capri item that was fitted with period look in mind. It starts and runs crisp as you can get and pulls very well with that typical Weber sidedraught noise for pure entertainment.
The gearbox is a Quaife four speed straight cut Rocket RS2000 with a new skip brown clutch and solid propshaft (No rubber bonding) Quick shift as you would expect gives it a nice precise and clean change. The rear axle has a recent new Gripper LSD differential with the new upgraded cross pins and 4. 4 final drive. Dural brace and new brake pipes throughout. All new wheel bearings front and rear.
The wiring loom is an all brand new bespoke pro item for this car and has pretty much everything you can think of including a Brantz trip meter in full working order. Switch panel. fuse box. switches etc which are all brand new and thoughtfully layed out. The battery is in the boot and cable through the car as with all the lines and loom etc. We stayed with the original period clocks and column switches which are all in working order and spares for both these also come with the car. The twin fans have over ride but are also fitted with a thermo switch. although not presently fitted it has supply's in place for two up two down lamps as required.
The interior is just as you see in the photos with the seats and frames fitted new for the build. Brand new plumbed in extinguisher. New handheld extinguisher. Warning triangle. First aid kit. Spill kit. Belt cutter etc it's all there. even Floor mounted sockets for Potti map light and cig socket for chargers etc.
The boot is aimed again at simplicity and its this again that takes time to sort with everything needed but no clutter and again as the photos show all new and in excellent condition. Fibre battery box. Twin pumps. Spare wheel. Jack and brace etc
Its presently sat on brand new 6x13 alloys with Dunlop Tarmac rally tyres and comes with 6 period Exactons with road tyres. There's a fair amount of spares that go with it so you would definitely need a van to collect them although the car can be driven away if you require. I will put the years free tax on it and test for twelve months upon purchase being agreed.
I know there's much more to know about this build but it's probably impossible to list as I could go on and on so if you have any questions please contact me and I'll do my best to answer as soon as I can. I can tell you that it cost an absolute fortune to put together and will not sell for a silly cheap price. I know the price of Classics is on the rise again and at fourty four years old cars such as this one don't come along very often. All documentation is present with a large file of past receipts and Tax discs etc dating back some years. Whether you want to use it in competition or simply to own it you will not go wrong with buying the right car in the first place. This is definitely one of those cars.
Collection must be within one week of the Auction end and payment strictly by Cash on collection. Cleared cheque or Bank transfer.
