1985 B Renault 4 GTL

Here we have for sale my 1985 Renault 4 GTL 1108cc.

Having a passion for classic cars and recently selling some of my Italian classics I decided to go French, i've wanted a useable R4 for sometime and now was the time to buy one … fast becoming rare cars.

Reason for sale … I was fortunate enough to  recently find a much older one and on impulse bought that too!... so the original acquisition needs to go to a new home.

Its a roadworthy, mot'd and useable little classic, it needs a tidy up in areas but what 35 year old car doesn't, the important thing with this one is that it's solid, running and can be used as its worked on, a little bit of paint damage to the offside rear quarter panel joint seam but given these are bolt on, an offside rear quarter is provided with the car should you want to replace the existing one.

Recent interior re-trim in a very smart cheq'd pattern which really sets the interior off, the roof lining and dash and rubber flooring is also in excellent condition

Showing 87,000 miles, recent clutch cable and brake overhaul, the clutch pedal is a little stiff but I think certain pivot areas need an oil up, the car overall starts and stops fine.

My intention was to run the car whilst I cleaned off all the underside and made it a useable car (with a level of patina) that I knew was in mint condition underneath .. and if it doesn't sell, I still will.

Slight disappointment when I acquired was that the car had a new bonnet in 2015, obviously had a minor knock at the front which then required a new bonnet, I've got the HPI report that states the car was subject to Category C damage in 2015 but repairable, and that the insurer decided not to repair. The report also states that the  car has also received a Vehicle Identity Check (VIC) on the 09th June 2015 and that the result was a pass, but please do not let this put you off.

I have shown a close up photo of the front chassis rails where the bonnet bolts to and you can clearly see that the paint, and general condition of the chassis legs matches the cars overall appearance, indicating that the bonnet was the only thing that was replaced.

So there you have it a fully useable little R4 that needs a new home, its priced to take account of the Cat C damage and just needs a new home. Its in a traditional R4 colour of 'Emeraude' so looks typically French .. and runs and drives, with a newly refurbed interior
