Clydesdale Classic Cars are selling this car on behalf of its present owner who has owned the car since September 1988. He bought the car with the intention of using it, however, as his haulage business grew, he found himself with no time to enjoy his car and it was parked in the corner of the company workshop in 1990 and that is where it has been until now.

There is no history with the car apart from some old Armstrong Siddeley Owners Club letters/cards from 1992, 1994, 1998, 1999, 2016.

Original Style V5 Present

The new V5 Registration document is also present.

Service Manuals x 2 – One in Hardback and the other in a folder.

There is also an Armstrong Siddeley Magazine dated April 2001.

Please note – this car is being sold as a project, we have had the engine running and it starts off the key.

·No Brakes

·Clutch seems to be partially stuck – Manual Gearbox

·Coolant leak but it is a burst hose

·Starts off the key

·Lights all seem to work

·Seems to be a pretty much complete car

·Bumpers are only loosely fitted

·Tool box drawer in boot is there but tools are missing

We have not inspected the car so we would strongly recommend viewing because of the length of time it has been sitting.

We (Clydesdale Classic Cars) can assist the new owner with any or all of the repairs the car may need if he/she wishes.

History:

With a robust aircraft engineering background, the motor cars that flowed from the Armstrong-Siddeley works were of high quality and fine engineering, and can still be enjoyed today, offering excellent value. The 346 was powered by a 3435cc straight six engine. The Sphinx mascot could part the air at a dizzy 100mph in twin carburettor form. Comfort was assured by a high-quality leather interior and walnut fascia and door cappings.

Between the years 1952 – 1958, only 7697 of Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire 346's were produced. In 1960, the company was bought by Rolls-Royce.  Armstrong Siddeley was the classic manufacturer of luxury limousines and aeroplanes, building the Gloster Meteor, Hawker Hunter and Seahawk, Gloster Javelin jet fighters.

Special features:
The radiator grill displays the Sphinx emblem, a mans head on a lions body, with two Meteor jet engines to signify that Armstrong Siddeleys involvement in the aeroplane industry.

OHV in-line six-cylinder engine.

The car has original leather seats, wooden cabin paneling, and is ready for viewing.

V5 shows it to be a 1952 car, however, it shows that it was first registered on – 29/10/1984. We do not know the reason for this.
