My wonderful VW Beetle. Purchased two years ago to satisfy a yearning for my first car, I particularly wanted a 1967…. 1967 is an important year for VW Beetle's as it was the changeover year. It was also the first year for disc brakes and the new style upright headlights to replace the sloping ones fitted since the first cars in 1938… This is a VERY sought after model, a Californian left hand drive 1500 and what makes this car extremely desirable is the fact that it has almost no rust at all…. Completely solid original floor pans (save for a tiny hole under the battery), perfect sills, perfect door bottoms, a pillars, inner wheel arches etc…. All good, never EVER seen a welding torch.

It's been lowered at the front and a tiny bit at the rear, rides well with really fun handling, currently wearing a set of replica Porsche “cookie cutters” and a healthy set of Goodyear Effigrips all round. As it's a 1500 it has disc brakes at the front….

Mechanically, it's all good. The engine is a strong 1641cc running twin ICT Weber's with the usual dual quiet pack mufflers, just had a new clutch and I have also just replaced the gearbox with an excellent AO Ghia box that just works perfectly with this car. I replaced all the seals, rear brakes, wheel cylinders, hoses, gearbox gaiters etc and I have also fitted an Empi Shifter to improve gear changes. It's a hoot to drive, and very nippy for a Beetle!

The car was repainted some years ago in white, and whilst it looks great in the pics it could really do with a repaint one day. I would have done this and returned it to it's OG colour (vw blue), however a business opportunity has presented itself so I need to sell this and a few other toys….. breaks my heart because I really love this car..
