Morris a60 suntor camper van for sale
Current customer rating:
Morris A 60 ½ ton van suntor camper 1971
84,000 miles, mot and tax exempt it costs around £111 a year for insurance There is a suntour club as well as the Cambridge Oxford owners club.
First of all it's a column change, not for everyone and it has no brake servo as standard so you have to press the pedal harder than normal. It's happy speed is around 50 mph. It does 70 mph max but doesn't like it.
Underneath of the van has been cleaned welded painted in red oxide then stone chipped all welding has been seam welded both sides where possible.
Parts welded underneath:
Inner sills between wheel arches have plates welded 3 to 4 up and all along. Both rear arches have been repaired, new A panels and outriggers have been welded under floor panels of driver and passenger sides, repairs to Inner wings and a weld patch on the chassis in the right hand wheel arch the rest is solid and original.
All camper cupboards etc have been taken out and floor painted.
Outside bodywork:
Front wings have been repaired seam welded top to bottom near the doors. Sills were put on by the previous owner. I have seam welded the rear wheel arches and have welded inside the passenger door. The rest is original it wasn't too rusty for one of these cars.
Resprayed 2 years ago but I was losing my storage space and a lot of the van was bare metal so had to make a decision not to do the dents and repairs with filler and respray it otherwise it would have been outside rusting as winter was drawing in I planned to address this later later I haven't got round to it. Respray involved a rust coat, 4 layers of primer and 5 top coats. It still needs a flat and polish.
Camper kit:
Pop up roof is tall enough for a 6 ft person to walk around. 2 front seats move up to make the bed level and sleeps 2 with room at the back. It has a small sink with a hand pump tap and a water tank under the floor about 25 ltrs with an outside filler cap. It has a 2 ring hob and grill with a gas bottle in the bottom of the wardrobe. The top over the hob removes and clips on the side giving more workspace. There are 3 other panels in the wardrobe that make clip on table tops
New parts:
4 front slave units, 2 rear slave units, new master (with an old cap) 3 rubber brake hoses, new copper pipes all round, new brake shoes front and back. New clutch master hose and slave units.
Cylinder head has been skimmed and valves ground last week. Sump has been cleaned, new oil filter, oil ,antifreeze, thermostat and cap cooling system have been well flushed, new points, condenser and plugs . Diff oil has been topped up and the gearbox oil. Hydraulic dampers have been checked and topped up, all suspension front and back has been dismantled and greased, nearly every bolt has been taken off and greased. A catalyst has been put in the fuel tank it keeps fuel fresh and deals with the unleaded fuel as used by the RAF.
Chrome work is tarnished and the front bumper somewhat bubbled as in photos, drivers seat has tear in vinyl but otherwise seats are good. Interior fair condition with curtains all round including the screen. There are also clip in tables.
The campervan comes with a handbook, manual, jack, starting handle and the spare wheel.
So not a mint car at all but it's good, honest, solid and a daily driver. This reflects in the price, it's had a lot of work done over the 15 years I have had it but I have other cars so it's a reluctant sale but it needs a good home. I will be sad to sell this rare camper. I feel like I'm selling my puppy. It's ready to drive and improve at your leisure.
More photographs of welding and restoration on request by email.
