This auction is for one 1990 Volkswagen Triple White Cabriolet. This VW is all original and has been lovingly cared for by it's owners for 27 years. I'm technically the second owner. I purchased the car from the son of the original owner. it was in the same family for 23 years. This car has always been garaged and only used during the summer months. No New England winters ever. This results in a rust free vehicle with low miles (59. 45).
It runs. drives. shifts and stops excellent. The original paint gleams. and the original white interior is like brand new. Everything works in the vehicle. from the power windows to the cruise control. even the A/C. It's getting hard to find such a nice original Cabriolet these days.
I purchased the car in 2013 with 57. 00 miles. I wanted to make it a safe and reliable summer vehicle for my wife. so I proceeded to do the following:
Cleaned the fuel tank. new fuel filter and replaced both fuel pumps. Bosch
Replaced the 4 fuel injectors. Bosch
New plugs. wires. cap. rotor. Bosch
Complete brake job. new front rotors and pads. rear shoes and cylinders. 4 new soft lines and German brake fluid.
New water pump. T-stat. all radiator hoses and German antifreeze.
New timing belt and tensioner. German
Replaced the 3 V-belts. German
Replaced the valve cover gasket. German
Replaced the exhaust from the catalytic converter back. Bosal and a Bosch O 2 sensor.
Replaced the shift linkage. German
Replaced the power steering fluid. German
Charged the A/C with 1 can of R 12 Freon.
Most of the parts were purchased from German Auto Parts. com
The only things not original to the car is the top and the radio. I replaced the top with an exact match of the original. The original top was getting brittle from age and thought it was best to replace it. The original radio was replaced with a modern Kenwood CD unit. The original radio is included (see photos) and works. I can swap it back in for you if you choose. A wiring harness was used so no wires were cut. it's a 5 minute plug and play job. All the original books and manuals are included. as well as all of the original keys.
In closing. If your looking for a very nice VW Cabriolet. this is it. I'm reluctant to sell it. but we just don't use it enough to warrant keeping it. It's time for the next owner to enjoy and love her.
The car is registered. insured and inspected through September 2017 in the State of Rhode Island. Rhode Island doesn't issue titles to vehicles over 10 years old. so check your local state laws on any paperwork you may need. The car is sold as is with a bill of sale and a copy of the current registration.
The winning bidder is responsible for shipping. I will assist any shipper you may choose. A deposit of $500. 00 is due within 24 hours of auction end. The final payment is due within seven days of auction end by either cash. cashiers check or a bank wire transfer.
Local bidders are welcome to an inspection and test drive. email for an appointment. Any questions. just ask. I'll be happy to answer any concerns by phone or email. Thanks!
