CLASSIC 75 Year old Original 1939 Dennis Truck that started life in Wales as a coal Lorry. Drives well and has MOT June 2014. Tax exempt as classed as a Historic Vehicle. I am only selling my Dennis because I have lost parking and nowhere safe to keep it. I have restored and repainted truck - is in good condition given its age !!! Fun Classic truck to drive. I recently showed the Dennis in a Classic Car Exhibition and the Eddie Stowbart team interviewed me and were really interested in the Dennis history. I am putting her up with a starting price of £3. 00 and may consider sensible offers - depending on auction. The number plate HUM 231 is also very desirable and with a valuation of £5. 00.
Bits that really need doing are: Rear wheel cylinders and a couple of tyres as walls are perishing. You are welcome to view the Dennis at any time during the auction.

This lorry was used as a coal lorry around Doncaster and Askern. It was bought by Dunstan Bros of Blackwood in Gwent. who were a long standing Haulage company and Dennis Dealer For Wales. The Lorry was used as an advert and taken to many local events in South Wales. The original cab was badly damaged in the fifties and rebuilt by a coach builder in Doncaster. It was originally maroon. It was bought new by the Bentley Home Coal company and used to deliver miner's free coal.

I have many fond memories of this lorry. I first saw it in Thorne near Doncaster when I visited the local Dennis Dealer in my capacity as a Dennis area engineer . hat would be about 1970. Some years later in about 1975 I was service manager For Dunstans and bought some Refuse vehicles from the Armthorpe motor company while there my boss saw the little Dennis and persuaded the owner to sell it to him. The local news papers made a spread of it leaving the Doncaster area. with a large photograph of the Dunstans.
