1941 Packard 120 Sedan in good condition for sale
Current customer rating:
This car is in quite good cosmetic condition as well as mechanical condition.
It has all new braking system parts. including wheel and
master cylinders. shoes. springs. etc. It also has a new timing chain
and rebuilt water pump.
Wheel and axle bearings have been replaced with
new where needed. and some steering parts have been replaced.
All four
rolling tires are in good condition.
Both spare tires are serviceable
but do not match the four rolling tires.
The wool broadcloth interior
upholstery is in good shape. as is the head liner.
The dashboard is in
decent shape with the exception of the plastic bezel around the
speedometer. which has deteriorated away as is typical with these cars.
The matching bezel on the
glove compartment is in excellent condition.
A brand new replacement
bezel for the speedometer area is readily available for less than $200
from Yesterdays Radio. but I have not taken the time to buy and install
it. I have ordered a few knobs and other plastic pieces. and will install them as soon as they arrive.
The car also needs a new speedometer cable. also easily obtainable and installed. After all the work on the front suspension of the car. the Packard mechanic did not have alignment equipment. so everything was "eyeballed" in order to get the car on the road.
It should have a real alignment specialist set it up exactly as it should be.
It actually drives OK as it is. but wanders a bit and the tires squeal when cornering. so I know it is not exactly right.
I'll try to get that done before someone buys it.
I will take some more detailed pictures tomorrow and add them to my auction for your information.
I had a stroke a few years ago that destroyed part of my vision. so I can no longer drive and enjoy the car.
I hope to find a new home for it where someone who appreciates the car will take good care of it.
On my web page mentioned above. you can see a screen capture of a recent valuation of the car in the NADA Classic Car book.
I am starting this auction well below the quoted "average retail" price.
With a little work. this car could be put into "high retail" condition and be worth a whole lot more than I am asking.
I just don't have the capability of finishing up the restoration of the car.
The car runs very smoothly and is fun to drive.
It attracts attention everywhere my wife and I have driven it.
It's a beautiful classic!
