Current customer rating:
1974 Toyota Corolla SR 5 TE 27. 2-Door Coupe (also known as a "Mango")Runs and drives!
The car has a period-correct Japanese 2 TG swapped in with a newer style T-50 5-Speed manual transmission. Being a genuine SR 5. the car has factory metal flares. 10-Bolt rear end. and long interior center console. Extremely rare vehicle. Heater. A/C. and radio have been deleted. Has a very clean and simple mechanical theme to it. You simply cannot beat the sound of a carbed 2 TG.
Exterior:'71-'73 Baby Bumpers Hella headlights Shorty antenna 13" Watanabe wheels 215/50-13 Sumitomo HTR 200 tires with good tread. but cracked sidewalls Solex locks on doors and trunk Shaved C-pillar gas cap Shaved emblems
Interior:Custom dry carbon fiber dash. center console. and glove-box paneling Auto Meter Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite gauges:Dash displays: Speedometer. Oil Pressure. Tachometer Center console panel displays: Water Temp. Battery Voltage Glove Box displays: Fuel Battery. Fuel pump. and Engine Fan switches located in glove-box Non-cracked dash pad in great shape Reupholstered door cards. carpet. headliner. and rear seat delete. Corbeau TRS Seats (reclineable / slideable) and Corbeau
harnesses Coilovers up front with camber plates 3" lowering blocks in the back with Konis
Engine:Twin cam 1. 6 L 2 TG engine imported from Japan Pair of fresh 44 mm Mikuni carbs with velocity stacks Throttle cable conversion New water pump. alternator. and thermostat housing Header. thermal wrapped MSD Digital-6 Plus Ignition controller MSD Blaster HVC II Coil New plugs and wires Moroso Oil Pan Front and rear crank seals replaced Electric radiator fan
Other:T-50 5-Speed trans w/ TRD knob Brand new Toy Sport clutch New pilot bearing Steel-braided clutch line Steel-braided brake lines Tilton Brake Master Cylinder with booster delete Battery relocated to trunk w/ Moroso Battery Box Fuel cell with custom brackets Holley Red Electric Fuel Pump Header-back exhaust w/ resonator Newer weather stripping Freshly rebuilt steering box
I simply do not have the time to enjoy this vehicle anymore. and would like to see it go to someone who will get good use out of it. This will make a great daily driver with just a little bit of effort. I would recommend replacing the tires and tie rod ends. as the vehicle has not been used regularly for quite some time. There is no rust other than the light surface rust that can be seen in the photos. The exterior trim pieces have recently been soda blasted (as seen in the photos). and are ready to be painted. The exterior paint is about 10 years old. and is in great shape for its age. As to be expected. there are a few chips. but nothing excessive. The paint on the rear two flares is starting to peel where they are bolted to the body. Two corners at the back bottom of the car about exhaust level are bent up slightly. but can be easily straightened. I do not have the emblems. original dash. or driver's side sun visor. Please note that the speedometer and tachometer are not hooked up currently. I've poured tons of cash into this car. and have put a lot of effort into sourcing rare parts. I've tried to showcase the car in it's entirety within these photos. This vehicle has attended TORC (Toyota Fest) a few years back. and has been taken care of very well. I have never seen another TE 27 SR 5 before. and probably never will. This is one of the straightest and most rust-free examples of a second gen Corolla around. not to mention one of the rarest. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have!
