This 1967 Mercury Cougar XR 7 has all of the right original pieces combined with great upgrades.

After all. who wouldn't appreciate pearl gold tri-coat with their beige paint. and a performance-built 312 hp V 8 under the hood?

The Mercury Cougar was the Mustang's rarer and more luxurious cousin. and it carries that distinction nicely today as a factory XR 7 package.

The factory-correct Sand Beige is a great color for a regal appearance. but this coupe is all about subtle upgrades.

That's why when the sun hits it just right. you can see a terrific gold pearl flake that was applied with the clearcoat over the original-style paint.

It gives this Mercury a handsome distinction without being brash.

As you enjoy this paintwork. take notice of how the body panels still retain the unique and crisp lines that were exclusive to the Cougar.

This car only has about 36 K miles on it total (the 4 k on the odometer reflects since the motor was rebuilt) and so the body is a superior quality.

The Cougar's hidden headlights and matching grille are more Lincoln than pony car.

While this is a larger car than the Mustang with very little overlap between the two. one place that's shared with the pony car is the motor lineup.

That means there is room for a performance-built V 8 under the hood. and that's exactly what the consignor knew. too (did we mention that he's a former NASCAR engine builder?). The Cobra markings on the valve covers and air grabber are well-earned thanks to a 302 cubic-inch V 8 that was rebuilt and blueprinted 4 K miles ago.

It includes performance upgrades such as GT 40 heads. aluminum intake. an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor. and K-code exhaust manifolds.

It now produces 312 horsepower. and the H-pipe dual exhaust does a fine job of letting people know about the extra power in this Cougar. The enhanced V 8 is mated to a stout C 4 three-speed automatic transmission with shift kit.

This sends power to the Ford nine-inch limited slip rear end that's running 3. 25 gears for a good balance between power take-offs. and real-world usability.

This is enhanced further by great anytime driving features like the power steering. front disc brakes. and modern tires on those attractive factory Mag wheels.

Complete with its owner's manual. you're looking at a Cougar that can go Cobra hunting.

Vehicle may be sold by Streetside Classic Cars prior to the end of the auction. Streetside Classic Cars reserves the right to end its auctions early or to cancel bids solely at its discretion and shall not be held liable for any such cancellation.

The winning bidder is required to contact Streetside Classic Cars within 24 hours after the close of the auction to finalize the details of the transaction.

A $500 Paypal deposit is required immediately upon selecting the Buy-It-Now option. The $500 Paypal deposit is non-refundable as ending an e Bay auction and not buying the vehicle is very damaging to the seller. Any refunds will be at the sole discretion of Streetside Classic Cars and are not guaranteed.

If winning bidder does not contact Streetside Classic Cars and submit deposit within 48 hours of auction close. vehicle may be made available to the next highest bidder or another qualified buyer on a first come. first serve basis.

For balance of payment we will accept bank wire transfer (preferred). cashier's check. or personal check (vehicle shipment will be delayed until check clears).
