This is a fabulous and very unique 1964 split screen van offering a fantastic investment opportunity whilst allowing you to enjoy both the driving and camping experience.
Based on a 1964 split screen van. this is a rare model benefiting from double barn doors on each side. Having been imported from Norway in 2006 and registered in the UK. an extensive rebuild followed taking several years to complete and costing in excess of £50 k.
This included replacement of all panels where corrosion was noted which were predominantly the jacking points. chassis outriggers. under floor plates and cab floor followed by a bare metal respray. A replacement 2. 0 litre VW engine was also sourced which was subject to a full rebuild including new engine and gearbox mounts and the addition of two high performance DCOE Weber carburetors and a remote oil filter set up. During the rebuild. the following additions and enhancements were made * New nose cone freeway flyer gearbox
* New clutch. clutch bearings and cable
* Straight axle kit
* Front disc brakes
*New rear drum brakes
* Narrowed adjustable front suspension beam
* Dropped spindles
* New shock absorbers. drag links. track rod ends etc.
* New wiring loom
* Steering rack conversion
* 3 front seat belts
* Split charge/leisure battery system
* New door seals throughout
* New alloy wheels. new tyres
* 2 bow rear roof rack
The interior is really unique being leather and ponyskin throughout with an alcantra headlining. Interior lights make for a cosy atmosphere in the evening and a rock and roll bed with fold down table and chairs complete the picture. With all of the engineering enhancements. particularly the engine. gearbox and suspension set up. this is a van that drives as it should and is certainly no slouch. easily keeping up with (and passing) modern traffic.
MOT until late August 2016 and tax exempt. this van is about as perfect as you can get. will make everyone smile and is ready to be enjoyed now.
