With many replicas. people will say “all the looks of the real thing but at a fraction of the cost!” In reality. you are getting a fraction of the cost. but also a fraction of the look. That’s not the case with the car you see here. In the mid 1980’s. a southern California designer named Mark Goyette designed the car that was the basis for the California Spyder from Modena. Goyette designed a tubular space age frame and covered it with a custom fiberglass body that was a nearly identical match to the Ferrari 250 California Spyder. So much so. that Ferrari sued Modena and made them seize operation. Once Modena was out of business. some say Precision Design Engineering purchased the molds in the mid 90’s. They then set out to improve Modena’s design. There are definite differences between the Modena design and the Precision design. most of which are for the better.

The car you see here is one of those Precision Design Engineering cars and is as beautiful as an $8 million 1962 Ferrari 250 LWB California Spyder. To say this car has extensive photo documentation and a complete story would be an understatement. We have a 2” thick binder documenting the entire build of the car as well as a completely typed. 9 chapter. 31 page story that the previous owner wrote himself. This includes a preface. table of contents. complete hand written summary of the car and a 5 page parts list. The parts list includes reference numbers. category. part number. vendor. item description and quantity used. From the 2 headlight clips from Moss motors with part number 560-325 to the body pieces to the brake calipers. everything is accounted for in extreme detail.   If the builder of this car wasn’t a mechanical engineer. he could have been an author. The build story of this car reads like a professionally written novel.

The car itself shows extremely well and has almost no imperfections. With only 2. 00 miles. the car looks and performs like a 2. 00 mile car should. All of the kinks and issues have been worked out of the car but not enough miles have been put on it to make the car show any kind of wear. Paint. bumpers. glass and top are all in wonderful condition with no issues. Fit and finish are excellent on all of the seams. The wheels are true Dayton 72 spoke knock off chrome wheels that are wrapped with new radials.

Inside. you will find true leather seats which are in great condition along with the black carpet. The steering column is from Ididit and has a Grant wood steering wheel. All of the gauges are correct Ferrari Styled gauges that work with no problems. What sets this car off from a lot of these other kits is that this is an A/C car that blows ice cold.

Under the hood. the car is powered by a GM Performance ZZ4 high output 350 Cu In V8 that’s connected to a Tremec 3550 heavy duty 5 speed manual transmission. This goes back to a Ford 9” rear end with disc brakes. The ride on the car is very smooth with its four link rear end and coil over shocks all around.

With power steering. power disc brakes and A/C. the car is an absolute joy to drive and will make everyone’s head spin trying to figure out if they just saw a $5 million dollar Ferrari. These cars are steadily increasing in price as are the real things. Act now to own a replica that will make nearly everyone proud.

Photo GalleryAdditional InformationAbout Us

With the current influx of classic car "dealers" both local and national. we are hearing more and more horror stories from good people who have had less than satisfying experiences buying and selling cars in the collector market. As a reputable dealer with over 15 years in the business. we want to make every possible assurance that buying a Fast Lane car is the only way to invest in a vintage vehicle. Our strengths are many. but here are just a few: Our guys know cars. period. Classic cars require a level of knowledge that is not necessary in the used car market. Never buy a car from a guy who doesn't know what he has. We examine every car extensively before we purchase so we can weed out the problem cars before they get to the customer. We use the term salesman loosely. Too many dealers will talk you into a car you have no business buying. We realize that a salesman with no commission goal is a salesman who won't pressure you. and that creates a friendlier environment for everybody. A warranty is great until you read the fine print. We will not offer you the traditional lawyer-speak guarantee because classic cars are amazingly unpredictable and they will find the most inopportune time to act their age. What we will offer in all fairness is our assistance in helping you return your vehicle to its purchased condition. Information is the best tool a buyer can ever possess and we like to share. If you need closeup photos. undercarriage video. scanned copies of original titles or trim codes from the VIN tag we will get it to you and we will handle your request in a timely manner.
