The Ferrari 550 Maranello is a two-seat grand tourer
manufactured from 1996 and is powered by a front-engined V 12. It
shared its platform and 5474 cc engine with the 456 but was
positioned as the company's high-end model. It featured a luxurious
and spacious interior and. unusually for a Ferrari. the boot could
accommodate a set of golf clubs. The 550 has a tubular steel frame
chassis with light aluminium bodywork. Power steering is variable
assist and. to be expected of a car with this performance. disc
brakes are fitted all round. Acceleration is an impressive 4. 2
seconds 0 to 60 mph and top speed a reported 199 mph. In total. 3083
Ferrari 550's were produced.
This Ferrari was originally registered on 4 th September 1998 and
has covered a mere 28. 00 miles during its 17 years on the road.
The low mileage is substantiated by a service history and the car
has recently been serviced by Maranello at Egham we are advised
the cambelts have also very recently been changed. The silver
coachwork is in very good order as is the contrasting red leather
interior and we are pleased to advise this 550 Maranello drives
with no known faults. The gearbox and clutch are both smooth in
operation as are the brakes - the 5474 cc engine is quiet and very
responsive. The car comes supplied with a V 5 registration document
and a current Mo T test certificate valid until 10 th September 2016 however interested parties should note the vendor has advised us
that prior to his purchase. the car was subject to a category D
insurance claim. Our own investigation confirmed the insurance
claim took place in 2006. The value of Ferrari 550's has increased
significantly of late taking into account the Category D status of
this example. it is very competitively estimated.
