MORRIS 1800 MK1 "LANDCRAB" SALOON - RARE EARLY CAR for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 569 votes
The 1800 or ADO 17 was launched in 1965 and promptly won “Car of the year”. Technically it was advanced and very spacious but its looks were unconventional and it became known as the “Landcrab”. Initially. the 1800 was only available as an Austin but the Morris version followed in 1966. All Mk1 models are very rare - “how many left” shows just six 1966 registered cars and only two on the road.

This car is a 1966 MK1 Morris 1800 in its original colour of Connaught Green. The V5 shows just two owners. the last bought this car in 1985 has driven and enjoyed it for 30 years. The history file details much maintenance and expenditure over the years including a body restoration and high quality re-paint by Robin Lackford in 1985. at a cost then of over £11k. There is a photographic record of the work.

The body is in superb order. the paint-finish has a deep shine and the underside is excellent. The interior is also very good as you can see from the photos – the carpet set was replaced at the time of restoration and the leather trim is presentable. On the road this charming early 1800 drives very well with a surprisingly modern feel. It pulls strongly. brakes well and the oil pressure gauge shows a healthy reading.

I have just carried out various minor jobs after a period of little use and this car is now ready to use. Fitted with various extras including a modern “face off” stereo with electric aerial. supplementary gauges and reversing lights. Comes with a comprehensive history file showing substantial expenditure. new and old log books and original BMC drivers handbook. Beautiful. rare. virtually unique and great value.

I also have another . Austin 1800 1973 in Damask red that is currently having a new section of exhaust and MOT. Can be viewed now but will not be ready for sale for 2 to 3 weeks.
