I have not had any acknowledgments or contact from this site since bidding on multiple cars. It is like this site does not care whether bidders EVER bid on these cars. Please acknowledge your receipt and consideration of this bid and let me know whether there is a reserve and how long the bidding will remain open, and when closed, with results. Is that not a fair request? Thank you. I like your site otherwise. Mark R. Simmons (from Franklinton, LA USA) offered 2,400.00 usd

                     1954 HUDSON HORNET SEDAN

HISTORY

The Hudson Motor Car Company was known for producing durable. well engineered but conservatively styled automobiles. That reputation was to be forever changed on December 7th. 1947 when Hudson introduced their new 1948 models in nationwide showings. Banners proclaimed “This Time It's Hudson”. The cars won instant acclaim from the public. Production had actually begun on October 12th. The tremendous factory conversion effort took only 23 days. Hudson spent $16. 00. 00 for development and new production equipment. The new car was revolutionary in that virtually no parts interchanged with the 1947 models. except the eight cylinder engine. which was essentially the same. The car had the lowest center of gravity and the lowest roofline of any American car without sacrificing headroom. due to the floorpans being attached to the bottom of the frame members instead of the top as all previous American cars had been. While the 1941 Nash 600 had been the first production unibody car. the new Hudson  was significantly  more rugged in construction and offered a sleek new design that was way ahead of the competition. The new body design was termed “Monobilt” because the body structure was of welded all steel construction.

The Legendary Hudson Hornet was introduced for the 1951 model year. They immediately started burning up the racetracks and byways of America. Many improvements were made for the 1952 model as the racing experience pinpointed any weak spots. The engineering advancements progressed as 1953 and 1954 model years went by. For the 1954 model year the Horsepower ratings increased to 160 for the single carb engine and 170 for the Twin H powered units.

The 1954 Hornet Sedan featured in this auction lived its life as a car in Alabama. It was barn stored from 1985 until last spring. The mileage is 20. 41. I believe this to be the actual mileage plus 100K. This car is the desirable 1954 Hornet equipped with the Dual Range Hydramatic and a Dana 44 3. 07 ratio rear axle. It is also equipped with Power Steering and Hydravac Power Brakes. It also has an early 6 Volt Air Conditioning system from Mark IV. It is also equipped with an Oil Filter. Radio. heater and directional signals.

              CONDITION

I remember this car as a nice car displayed at some of the Hudson Club events back in the early 1980's. The story that accompanied it was that it was a Prototype for Hudson and Mark IV to potentially offer Air Conditioning for the 1954 Hudsons! At the very least. it is a very early 6 Volt Air Conditioned Hudson. The 28 years it spent in a barn in Northern Indiana were not kind to it! I bought it in a package of cars last summer. It was a good running and driving car when stored away! The engine now turns with a battery and seems to have fairly even compression. It has its original matching numbers engine. I have made no attempt to get it running. The A/C condenser and passenger side inner fender panel are in the trunk. It will stop from a low speed as the reserve braking system is still operable. It is very complete including the bumper jack and spare. The car is missing the carpets. The door latches are sticky from sitting. there is a replacement latch and striker for the right rear door included.  There are two sets of keys. Most of the exterior chrome and Stainless trim is pretty nice. It has been repainted at some point in the original Coronation Cream with a Black roof. There are some small rust holes in the driver's side floor depicted in one of the photos. It is a southern car and has virtually no scaly rust on the unibody structure!  I am starting the bidding at about what it is worth in cores and scrap metal!  I think this car is a worthy candidate for a full restoration.
