LaSalle vehicle history / spec's :

1940 was the last year for LaSalle as a product of Cadillac. The Series 52 "Torpedo" Touring Sedan was known for its outstanding body style. 45-degree sloped windshield. curved rear windows with no belt line. and rounder and smoother body and trunk. Both the Series 52 and 50 featured wider spacing of center and side grille bars. triple vents on hood side panels. fenders flowing without a valley into the hood. sealed beam headlights built into the fenders and parking lights on top of the headlights As well. the wheelbase was increased by three inches to 123" . The overall length was 210. 5 inches long. The Sedan weighed in @ 3. 00 lbs.

This high fashion automobile bore the trademark tall. slim vertical grille flanked by a series of vertical chrome bars between the grille and fenders. often referred to as the "catwalk". The 52 series featured headlamps and parking lamps that were integrated within the fenders. The 52 series had a smoother lower appearance because of the new GM torpedo inspired C-Body. The other 1940 LaSalle series 50 was basically a carryover of the 1939 model and was based on the corporate B-Body used by Buick. Each series had a coupe and sedan. and a convertible coupe and sedan. The series 52 convertible and sedan were not available until mid year and are very rare. with only 75 convertible sedans produced.
