FEATURED HERE IS A RARE AND AUTHENTIC BARN-FIND QUALITY LASALLE SPORT PHAETON.Featured here is a rare running & driving authentic barn-find quality La Salle Phaeton. La Salles were excellent value automotive for their time. The La Salle was the companion brand to Cadillac, owning many similarities to GM's top tier luxury brand with slightly understated trim, wheelbase and engine specifications. This model was recovered from a barn in the local area and presented relatively intact with fair paint, good chrome and fair interior. Brown mohair interior appears original with with rips & tears in the seat. Dashboard tirm and gauges appear complete. Body and fenders are straight. Running boards have deteriorated to an extent yet the engine and engine compartment appear very clean considering the onset of decades in barn storage. Engine runs and the car drives great, the carb, fuel system, water pump where all gone over about 2 yrs ago and the lasalle has been driven many times since. This La Salle is an excellent candidate for restoration that will surely render it's true potential or leave it as is and enjoy it.
THE LASALLE SERIES 328
Introduced in 1927, the La Salle was intended by General Motors to fill a perceived gap in the model range between Buick and Cadillac. Handsomely styled by Harley Earl, the La Salle inspired General Motors to establish a separate division known as 'Art and Color' responsible for automotive styling, naturally with Earl at the helm. Built by Cadillac to the same high-quality standards, the La Salle employed an advanced 303 ci V-8 engine developing 75 horsepower and offered exceptional performance. For 1929, Cadillac offered further technical improvements on the La Salle, introducing synchromesh on second and top gears along with safety glass. Mechanical changes included Duplex mechanical brakes, pressure lubrication on the piston pins, and mid-year metric spark plugs were adopted.
Built on two wheelbase lengths (125 and 134 inches), the 1929 La Salle was offered with a wide variety of bodywork, chiefly from Fisher, although Fleetwood did produce some higher priced versions. On 1929 cars, all brightwork was chrome plated and the parking lights were moved to the fenders.
