Ultra Rare 1932 BSA Family Four Vee Twin Trike

This car has benefited from a bare chassis restoration that was completed in 2009 and has travelled only a nominal mileage since. The model designation 'Family Four' refers to the seating arrangement within the skiff style coachwork of two seats for adults and two for young infants. It is powered by a Hotchkiss designed OHV air cooled vee twin engine of 1021cc that sounds like a Harley Davidson on steroids. At its introduction in 1929. the BSA trike was the first popular priced car in the world to offer independent front suspension and front wheel drive. The restoration retained all of the major components that were original to the car including wings. bonnet. front grill surround. windscreen. dashboard. engine. clutch. gearbox. chassis and suspension components. All major components were overhauled which included a re built engine. The clutch was replaced by a new unit from the BSA club. The final drive gears were replaced with a brand new worm and wheel set and the steering box is brand new. The suspension bushes are new and the springs have been re set. The wheels were rebuilt and powder coated and new tyres fitted. The brakes were re lined and the front grill surround has been professionally restored and re chromed. The coachwork is by 'Carbodies' of Coventry and the maker's plate is affixed to the scuttle. This was completely rebuilt using new ash framework as required although 40% of it is original. All the exterior wood panelling is new and is covered with durable 'Everflex' fabric. All the flooring is new. A new wiring harness was custom built for this car. The car has a new hood and side screens over original frames. Although originality was a major factor the car has been converted to 12 volts to allow for better starting. improved lights and the fitting of a higher output dynamo. A battery isolator switch is fitted to reduce power drain and to add security during periods of inactivity. Interior trim is finished to a high standard with the seating being upholstered in correct new old stock genuine Rexene. Matching quality carpets are fitted front and rear and are correctly edged for a professional finish. The car retains its original valuable registration number. With the car is a history file containing receipts of work undertaken. a photo of the car during World War 11 and a restoration DVD. With the car is a CD containing the hand book and workshop manual. An active old established club (BSA FWD Club) gives excellent technical and spares support. The car is of course MOT exempt but has covered only a small mileage since its last MOT in April 2012. A free road tax disc will be with the car. The car is garaged. You are bidding for a sporting vintage car in turn-key condition that is VSCC eligible. You are bidding to buy this car not to kick tyres and haggle. Only bidders with at least ten 100% positive feedbacks will be accepted. You are welcome and encouraged to view the car prior to bidding by contacting me via the 'question' facility. If you are a scammer please do not waste my time or yours. Overseas buyers must bid via an agent or contact in the UK. A non returnable deposit of £100 must be paid by PayPal within two hours of the auction finishing and the car must be removed within two weeks. It will be the responsibility of the buyer to remove the car and insure it upon completion. Time wasters will be dealt with in an appropriate manner. Payment by cash on collection or cleared funds. The car will not be released with an uncleared bankers draft. The only reason that this car is now available is that I now have a 1931 BSA Special Sports model in a similarly restored condition. No warranty is inferred or given. Car comes with a jack. wheel brace and starting handle. Happy bidding!
