Citroen : Ami 8 four door station wagon

I bought this low mileage 1978 Citroen Ami 8 in Grenoble. France in 2009. Ever since. it's just been great fun. economical (40 mpg can be achieved). reliable and so comfortable. 1978 is the last production year for the Ami before being replaced by the Citroen Visa. It is fitted with the bullet proof flat twin air-cooled engine (602cc - AM28) which happens to be the most efficient version available (35bhp). It also has the optional centrifugal clutch (replaced in 2010) also known as Traffic clutch (No need to clutch in when you bring the car to a halt) a must have for city driving!. Recently. I had an electronic ignition and a dry coil installed to further improved its legendary reliability. The front brakes have been replaced last summer. both discs and pads. as well as the starting motor (reconditioned). Mechanically. this Ami 8 is in perfect working order.

Cosmetic & Structural condition: Both chassis and body shell are in very good condition. No rot whatsoever!  There's a little bit of surface rust around the front wheel arches and around the the tailgate; that's it !

Odometer shows 84. 47 kms (53. 29 miles). You might wish to know that this Ami was recently hired twice by Movie production company to appear  in the the new X-Men  (release date: August 19th 2014)and Pawn Sacrifice (release date . sometime in 2015). Please note also that I never drove this beautiful Citroen in winter and that it always has been stored in our dry and heated garage.

J'ai acheté cette voiture à Grenoble en 2009. Depuis. je n'ai connu que plaisir. confort. fiabilité avec une consommation de 7l/100km. !978 est la dernière année de production de l'Ami qui a été remplacé par la Visa. Elle est équipée de l'increvable moteur  deux cylindres à plat (602cc-AM28) dans sa version la plus puissante avec 35 hp. Elle possède aussi un embrayage centrifuge (remplacé en 2010). très pratique en conduite urbaine puisqu'il n'est pas requis de débrayer lorsque l'on s'immobilise. J'ai également ajouté un allumage électronique et une bobine      afin d'améliorer son efficacité. Les disques avant ainsi que les garnitures ont été remplacés et le démarreur a été reconditionné. Mécaniquement. cette Ami 8 est en parfait ordre. Point de vue de son chassis et de son apparence. elle est en très bon état : aucune rouille ou pourriture. Seulement qu'un peu de rouille de surface dans le pourtour des ailes. du hayon et de la penture du hayon. tel que le montre les photos.

L'odomètre affiche 84 847 k ou 53 029 milles. Il est intéressant de savoir que la voiture vient de figurer dans les films «  X-Men » (Sortie prévue pour août 2014) et dans « Pawn Sacrifice » ( sortie prévue pour début 2015). Elle n'est jamais sortie l'hiver et est actuellement en hibernation dans un endroit sec et chauffé.
