1966 Ford Mustang Fastback Shelby GT350R Tribute (Coupe to Fastback Conversion)

Summary

-1971 Ford 302 (30 over) with 1968 High Compression Heads. Holley Street Dominator 4 barrel Aluminum intake & 4 barrel Edelbrock Carb (600CFM) with Electric Choke

-Tremec T-5 Transmission from a 1987 Mustang GT (5 speed manual)

-Bendix Power Steering System

-Entire interior is new

-6 gauge cluster 1965 GT350R Stewart Gauges

-Mr Gasket Electric Fuel pump #12S (assists Mechanical fuel Pump) (No “Vapor Lock”) (Toggle switch)

-99. 9% rust free – After all rust repairs were made. entire interior of car (Roof. sides and floor) as well as underneath the car and the engine bay were painted with a thick coat of 3M black rust inhibitor paint

-1966 - 4 lug car with non-power Drum brakes

-1966 Mustang Coupe to Fastback Conversion (title is for an original 1966 Coupe)

-Water Temp has not gotten hotter than 210 degrees in traffic or driving hard (hottest day driven thus far was 81 degrees) (Stays between 195 & 210 degrees)

-Carburetor – New Edelbrock Performer 4 barrel Carb – 600 CFM w/ electric choke

-All new Felpro Gaskets. new Lunati pushrods. new lifters. new spark plugs. new fluids

-Mallory electric Distributor - ignition system (No Vacuum advance)

-New MSD Blaster 3 ignition coil

-New Melling High pressure oil pump & oil pick tube and screen

-Fully synthetic – 5w30 Mobil 1 oil

Paint

-Please note I did not have the Driver and passenger door opening painted. so currently they are a light blue (Please see pictures) 

Suspension (Great working condition & tight)

Front

-New Front KYB Excel Gas Shocks

-New 620 1 inch drop Coil springs

-New Scott Drake Polyurethane Coil Spring Insulators

-Rest of the front suspension is original to 1966

Rear

-New Leaf Spring bushings & Shackles

-Rear Coilover shocks – (older coilovers)

Electrical

-Except for Gauge Cluster & headlight switch. electrical in car is original to 1966

-All electronics work great (lights: high/low beams. blinkers. brake lights. interior lights. Heater box. wipers) (Please note there are no wiper blades as I have not driven car in the rain)

-New Battery (AC Delco – April 2014)

-New Starter for a 1987 Ford 302

-New Starter Solenoid

-New Alternator

-New Voltage Regulator

Coupe to Fastback Conversion

-Title for car is a 1966 Coupe (originally 6 cylinder auto 4 lug with drum brakes)

-There is no way tell this car was ever a coupe

-Done utilizing an original 1966 Fastback (bottom half of car was rusted out. sitting in a field)

-Window frame was cut 12 inches down & steel tubing was welding into window frame to mate the Fastback top to the Coupe Window frame

-Rest of the conversion was welded into the Quarter panels. interior wheel wells. interior floor. & the sides behind the doors

Things to note; (No surprises)

-Reverse on the T5 Transmission sometimes “pops” out of reverse – All 5 forward gears work great (Car can only be driven slow in reverse)

-Lower Driver side Door rubs slightly on front fender when opening (Please see pictures for paint blemish)

-The Cowl Does leak (CJ Pony Parts sells an easily removable “Cowl Cover” for $27 (Part # – ACC-16741-65) with a gasket that stops leaking cowls in the rain or for when washing the car) (Otherwise carpets will get wet)

-The Bendix Power Steering Fluid drips a from Power Valve (only use ATF Type F Automatic Trans Fluid – Red) (To stop drip. either rebuild Power Valve. buy aftermarket Power Valve from Flaming River or remove PS and convert car to manual steering)

-Please note I did not have the Driver and passenger door opening painted. currently they are a light blue (Please see pictures) (you can only see when door is open)

-There is no implied warranty with this car.   It is being sold as is. where is.

Title

-The title is a 1966 Mustang Coupe Clean NJ Title is in my name (The fellow I purchased the Fastback  from has the original 1966 Fastback title & Vin tag for that car)
