AE92 Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-Z

The phrase 'JDM' is bandied about a lot these days. generally by kids driving their mum's Honda Civic. JDM means Japanese Domestic market. which is exactly what this car is.
So what is it. here we have a FWD Toyota Sprinter Trueno GTZ. I highlighted front wheel drive because its the second most common question I get asked. the most popular is "What is it?"I know what you're thinking "I haven't seen one of these before" Neither had I before I bought it! Its based on the AE 92 Corolla chassis. but the top is. of course totally different. Running gear is all Corolla. suspension. brakes etc. But this car has the benefit of the 4 A-GZE supercharged engine. It is. quite frankly. superb. The mileage is in kilometres. it hasn't been converted so 90. 00 miles for a car that age isn't much at all.

Its quick. surprisingly quick for a 1. 6. handles really well. no shocks for a car that weighs less than a ton. Its also practical with a split folding rear seat.
Ive put a lot of time and effort into this car. and my goal has always been to keep it as standard as possible. but due to the total lack of original parts Ive had to compromise. I had to have a decat made up because the flex section between the cat and the exhaust corroded away. Its made by Powerflow and is top quality. likewise the suspension. the front dampers were shot so I fitted some Koni damping adjustable dampers and Fensport lowering springs all round. Rides lovely.
Theres only 2 things that don't work on the car. the air con (27 years old Im not surprised) The gas is obsolete now so I haven't tried filling it. and the interior fan only works on max speed. I guess its the resistor but it doesn't bother me. Also theres a bit of trim missing from above the drivers side rear window. discontinued from Toyota so Ive no idea where to find it. Theres also a little tear in the drivers seat bolster. but nothing to worry about.
Now. as you can see from the pics the passenger side front wing has been mullered. this was caused by a ******* drunk driver crashing into it and driving off. Its been garaged since this happened last year as I can't find a front wing anywhere (remember what I said about lack of spares) so you will need to commission your favourite body shop to have a look at it. I do still have the arch trim.
Along side the decat and suspension I have done the following :- New water pump. spark plugs. oil filter. supercharger and alternator drive belts (all genuine Toyota) Alternator refurbished (noisy bearing) Toyota red coolant. This car has wanted for nothing.
Why am I selling this wonderful car? I don't want to. but Ive lost my garage privileges so the poor old girl is sat on the roadside. plus I have a new job which is going to increase my annual mileage 15 fold so need a generic diesel. If I don't get the asking price Ill just keep it and drive it. whilst saving for said diesel.
The car is in for an MOT tomorrow (09/04/2014) which it will sail through. and has 6 months tax so you can drive it away.
There is a part ex option available for the right car. and that car is a Golf or Passat TDi. must have 6 gears. must have cruise control. must have cash my way. Those are the cars and terms I will consider.
To pre empt a question I will no doubt get asked. no. I will not break it for spares and take the engine out. If you want to do that once you buy the car. would be a shame but thats up to you
Car is located in Lincoln. and any viewing is welcomed. test drives will be conducted by me and me only. Also don't come and view then try and beat me down on price. there are very few of these about. even in Japan. last 2 I saw sold for between 12 and 15. 00 pounds.
