Dating from the 1970s a Classic Clubmans Racing Car . model unknown . The car had last raced sometime in the 1990s with the HSCC . It had competed in the Classic Clubman Formula Ford 1600 engined B Class . I have only just bought this car with the intention of readying it for entry in to the Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting in August however I dont really have the time or resources to achieve this at the moment so I have reluctantly decided to sell the car on . The car has a Scholar built FF1600 dry sumped engine mated to a Ford 3 Rail Rocket type gearbox with shortened tailshaft and alloy bellhousing . Unusually for a Clubmans the rear suspension is an all independent affair . utilising a Lotus Elan differential unit and Hillman Imp driveshafts . The car is largely complete however it is missing its front brake calipers . instruments . rear wheel mudguards and fuel tank .  The engine turns over OK but at the moment it does not run . the chassis needs a little work at the front . a rusty chassis member and some fabrication work in the nose area to support the nosecone and front wing arrangement . Ideally the car needs a complete stripdown and rebuild . The car is fitted with 13'' x 7. 5'' Revolution 4 Spoke wheels on the front and 9. 5'' on the rear .  I would be prepared to sell the car minus engine and box . This car is surely the cheapest way in to Historic Motorsport in a proper racing car . £2950 . I can be contacted on 07864 707138 .  Although the pictures show the car without carburettor and manifold they are included . Delivery possible .

Have you sold this?

The car is a gryphon I bought the car as a project in the eighties and gave it a re-build I fitted the roll bar and revised the dash hoop for more knee room. I used the car on the midland hills and sprints. I sold the car at a Silverstone auction in the late eighties. Some time latter I was contacted by a person who intended to use it for classic clubman's racing. At his request I sent him a detailed file of the re build unfortunately despite repeated requests he never returned the file. That was the last I heard of the car until I came across the picture on the net today. Out of interest is the add current or have I come across something that is years old!
best regards Rick Fielding
