VW BEETLE 1200, 1971, 16,500 MILES FROM NEW for sale
Current customer rating:
1971 BEETLE 1200. 16. 00 MILES FROM NEW.
Unused from 1973 until 2012.
1 st owner school teacher. kept car 1 year.
2 nd elderly owner used car for about a year before it was laid up due to ill health.
family kept car until it was sold in 2012. It then had a couple of owners in quick time until I found it at a small independent vw garage. it was then coaxed back to life. new tyres. battery oil etc. that's where I found it. saw it. sat in it. heard it. bought it. if you could bottle that smell I would.
In my ownership I removed all wings. " easy on this car. no snapped bolts" wings resprayed to freshen them up. inner wings polished. that's all the original paint you can see under there. wheels shot blasted and sprayed. the only welding done on this car is under the battery tray where the 40 odd year old acid leaked. the floor pans. heater channels. spare wheel well. roof gutters etc are all the originals and superb. heater works well. on and off. interior is all original and as good as it gets really.
this is the 1200 beetle. the most basic model. one sunviser and rubber mats. Apart from the wings the rest of the car is in factory pastel white paint with a few marks here and there. engine and gearbox etc all working well. sounds great. I think the exhaust and heat exchangers are the originals.
I have fitted the correct radio in the car. it looks and works well. I have kept the blanking plate if you wish to refit it. also the front spotlight can easily be removed if needed. the handbook. jack and tools are here.
This car has not been restored as such. it didn't need to be. its not rebuilt using dubious parts or labour. its pretty much as it came. bear in mind though that it is 40 odd years old. not 2 years old. there are things to improve if you wish. I. some rubber seals and the like. nothing horrible. even the running boards are entirely sound.
only for sale due to reducing collection.
viewing strongly recommended. my number 7. sorry but zero rated bids will be deleted. cash on prompt collection please.
did I mention that interior smell? its addictive. you wont want to get out of it.
