1954 MORRIS MINOR. HISTORY. Bought by me 2009 from widow of previous owner. who had planned it as his retirement project. He had all body repairs professionally (KC Motors) done. including sills. rear spring hangers. and new wings. The underside was cleaned then wax protected. Internal cavities were also flooded with rust prevention. (which still was dripping on collection. and many weeks following!. He renewed the bumper blades. fitted a new 10 gallon petrol tank. and installed a low compression 1098cc motor. He also (perhaps himself?) resprayed it. During my ownership I have not touched the bodywork. save for occasional rewaxing underside. PRESENT CONDITION. I recommisioned it. The original wide ratio. and rather horrid gearbox was replaced with a later Morris Minor 'box; and the very low axle changed for a matching Minor 4. 22 ratio. The engine was rebuilt with a new. normal compression unleaded (Charlie Ware) head. and stainless steel exhaust. Twin electric fans were fitted. and 5 new radial tyres. In this condition I have run it very enjoyably for the last 5 years. Everything works: the entertaining semaphore indicators (which FLASH rather feebly!). the heater (surprisingly good) and the gauges. The speedo has been recalibrated to match the 4. 22 CWP. It cruise happily between 50 and 60 mph. returns 40mpg. and has taken me in the last year to Cambridge. Carlisle and Caen. It has passed every MoT (though now no longer compulsory!!) with no 'advisory information'. Minus points: the paint work is poor; the photos flatter it; it would benefit from a really good respray. (though it looks fine from a distance!) The headlining is puctured in several places; and the gearbox loses oil. This car is a practical. enjoyable classic. Though the running gear is from a later Minor. and therefore non original. this makes it very useable in modern traffic. It generates goodwill wherever it goes. is astonishngly cheap to run. and should not lose value. A substantial collection of useful spares. manuals and receipts accompany the sale. The car is located in Cheshire. You are welcome to view the car on my 4 post lift. and have a test ride. Good luck!
