1973 Ginetta G15. lassic British Sports car. complete and working. This is a beautifully designed. looking and driving little car that comes from a manufacturer that has a rich heritage. especially in the clubman racing class. Ginetta Cars was started in the 1950's by the Walkett brothers in Witham. Essex. England. Ginettas competed against Lotus. VR and others and. nbsp;as their cars gained racing experience. that migrated into each model they released. The G4 put Ginetta on the map and such models as the G12 put them into the big league. In 1968 Ginetta released the G15 model being a model that could be a car that could get you to work in the week then drive on the track at the weekend. It had the Rootes (Chrysler Group) all aluminum compact high revving 4 cylinder water cooled engine that was used in the sport versions of the Hillman Imp car. It has the front suspension and disc brakes from the Triumph Spitfire. It has independent suspension all round and the engine mounted in the rear which allows a super low profile nose and front of the car. It has gorgeous lines and at only 1150 lbs it can really move and hold the road such that it produces the biggest grin factor of any car I have owned. It has an 875cc engine with twin carburetors that produces 55hp and used to give me a consistent 50 Imperial mpg which is 40 US miles per gallon. The body is fiberglass on a steel chassis of Ginetta's own design.    The car is very original except for the respray in red shortly before I bought it from the metallic silver when it was new. The respray wasn't that good then and you should plan on the car having a paint job if you want to have the looks up close that it has from afar. The fiberglass body is really good with no body damage from accidents and just a few minor marks from moving and storage over the last 29 years. The chassis is original and solid and nearly rust free except some missing black paint in places. The interior is all there but it really needs a re-upholster of the seats. head lining and carpets. The seat belts are 4 point harness style and functional. The engines starts and runs but it should be gone through before putting the car on the road. The brakes and clutch work but again it needs a complete going through before taking to the roads.

I purchased this car in 1984 and have owned it ever since. driving it in England for the first 18 months as my only car and always storing it inside a garage. In 1995 I emigrated to the US and left my Ginetta in storage at my parents near London. In fall 2002 I bit the bullet and paid the shipping costs to have it shipped to California where we where living at the time. I waited until 2003 to register it with the DMV and. being 30 years old. it avoided any modifications for smog and it was given a title and planned nonoperational registration (which I still have) as it needs going through completely before putting it on the road. In 2004 we moved to Pennsylvania and I registered the car on a PA title. which it still has. Although we moved back to CA in 2007 I haven't re-registered it back in CA and so it is still on the PA title. I see no reason why CA DMV won't recognize the vehicle as before but bid on the car knowing what I have disclosed.      This is a super cute car that is all there that needs some extensive time spent to make it road ready. Our children are so into their sports that they don't have the time to help me - which was the plan - and so I have decided to put it up for sale. As far as I know there are only 4 of these cars in the United States so it is a very rare car indeed. The car is number 762 of a total of 790 made and this is not only one of the very last but one that hasn't been raced and damaged. I have MOT certificates from the U. K that show the history of the mileage and I also have the original bill of sale from the original owner from new. Included in the sale is a workshop manual of the engine.
This has been a hard decision to come to and I won't keep reducing the price until it sells. I have put it up for what is fair and if it can't make that price then I'll just keep it another 29 years. You can come and see the car. ask me for a video of the engine running or send someone you know to come and look for you. I will try to answer all legitimate questions in a timely manner and I will help whoever the new owner is with loading onto a trailer or truck if that's necessary.

Have you sold the G15

from Lucy Gorbes, dated 13 june 2016
Hello, my father owned a 1993 Ginetta G33 for many years and eventually had to sell it (times are tough in London). I have wanted to own a Ginetta since I was 10 years old. I cannot quite believe this one is available in such good condition.

I just relocated to Los Angeles. May I ask if the car is still available and, if so, what work is require on it (They always need something or other). I need to work out whether I can afford the asking price and subsequent repairs.

Many thanks and I look forward to your response.

Best wishes,

Lucy
