Imported from the US for a client in France who has now changed his mind.   This is a 1975 LHD Triumph TR6 carburettor car.   It was imported a few weeks ago and immediately taken for an MoT test where it failed on front suspension trunnion bushes. wiper blades. washers and a small area of rust on the rear chassis rails.   The trunnion bushes and wiper blades were replaced and the car then went in to have the chassis rails welded to a very high standard.   Having had that done. it was then MoT tested before having the brightwork stripped off and going in to have a complete bare metal respray.   The bodywork was found to have virtually no rust at all but numerous small dings and dents.   These were repaired before it was painted in the original Carmine Red.   While it was being painted the documents were submitted to DVLA for it to be registered in the UK.   This has now been done and it has been allocated an age related N registration plate.   So it is UK registered. has 11 months MoT and is taxed until the end of May 2014.

The intention was that as soon as the paintwork was done. the interior would be replaced but it was at this time that the French client informed me that his circumstances had changed and he was no longer in a position to buy the car.   Consequently. it is being offered for sale in it's current state.

It drives quite well although there is a bit of backlash in the transmission which I suspect is a propshaft Universal Joint (the driveshaft joints were inspected while it was on the ramp having the welding done and appear to be fine) and the rubber mounts on the steering rack are perished so the steering. while having no slack. is a little vague.   Obviously. the interior will require replacement and it currently has no carpets.   The hood appears to be fairly new and fits correctly although some of the press studs to secure it were lost in the paint shop so the bottom edges are currently secured with screws.

The engine starts easily and runs well.   The oil pressure is good and there are no overheating issues.   All of the dashboard instruments work with the exception of the speedo (something the MoT tester missed) as the cable is missing.   Being a US spec car it has the additional emissions control equipment fitted but this could easily be removed and would require no more than the outlets on the exhaust manifold being blanked off (or the manifold replaced with a European spec one without the outlets).   The clutch and gearbox work as they should. as do the brakes.   The tyres are all good too.

It was fitted with the US spec bumpers with huge rubber over riders which weren't refitted after it had been sprayed.   The bumpers on a US spec car are mounted slightly higher than on a European car and the front sidelight indicator units are mounted under the bumper rather than in the front valance.   It could be left as it is or the bumpers replaced with European ones if desired.

All in all it is a very solid. rust free car that is useable as it is.   With the running around taking it for MoT. welding. paint. etc. I have probably done around 100 miles in it with no issues at all.   You could simply replace the interior (all parts are available from Rimmer Brothers) and it would look very respectable. There are a few cracks in the veneer on the dashboard which you may choose to replace.   If you were going to do this. it would be fairly straightforward to fit a RHD dash. steering rack and swap the pedal box over to convert it to RHD.

A deposit by Paypal is required at the end of the auction with the balance payable on collection.   If required the car can be delivered to anywhere in mainland Europe at the buyers expense.
