1939 Singer Super 12 car.

This listing may look familiar to some people.

At the conclusion of the recent auction, the winning bidder failed to make contact, respond to messages and to pay for the car so I am offering my apologies to the genuine bidders who were interested and offer it for sale again though this time as a fixed price sale. If you think you are genuinely interested, I would welcome your offer.

The car was first registered 02/01/1939.

It starts, runs, drives, steers and stops as required.

The car is not currently on the road(SORN) so I'm afraid test drives will not be possible.

I have the current modern V 5 in my name.

The photographs were taken on the 26 th August this year prior to it being listed on Ebay later the same day.

It is believed it was once part of an exhibition at Coventry Museum of Transport.

This is a rare car, difficult to find another example on a casual search.

I think this is a rolling restoration.

It could be used whilst it is being improved depending on the jobs being undertaken but the new owner may have a different view.

I think the weakest aspect of the car is  the paintwork, at some stage it has had a fairly basic respray which leaves some areas of the car looking better than others. The opinions of people who have seen the car are divided, some advocate a respray others seem confident that a ‘cut' would improve the look sufficiently to be acceptable.

The chassis and body are sound, I can't see any areas which have been welded previously, nor are there any areas which currently need to be welded. The floor in the passenger compartments is original comprised of wood ‘boards set within metal frames, these are sound.

There are no carpets fitted, there is a piece of carpet which might serve as a template but this is currently stored in the boot, together with assorted spare pieces of trim and fittings.

When I first listed the car I received some queries as to why the vehicle could not be driven away after sale. At the time I wanted to avoid any ‘sucking eggs' accusations but to make it crystal clear to everybody, this car has 1930 s brakes which to be effective require regular adjustment and maintenance. Other than freeing a stuck brake to move it out of the garage last week, they have received no ongoing maintenance over the last four years. The brakes do work and the handbrake works efficiently enough to hold the car at rest even on my steep drive. It would also make sense to examine the steering mechanism too to make sure that play in the geometry can be minimised by adjustment of the steering box and examination of the steering joints.

The speedometer is not currently working, there has been a new cable fitted at some time but I don't know if this is connected. The car is fitted with electric/manual windscreen wipers. The electric bit of these is not working, I have not investigated the cause of this.

It would make a great winter hobby, there are no horrendous mechanicals or rebuild jobs to do before it can be used so I hope it will find the right new home.

There are some parts available with the car, these will be included in the sale together with any tools I have which are appropriate, (I have some imperial sized spanners, sockets, hose clamps and odds and ends).

The car is sold as seen, as I said earlier it is not on the road and you will not be able to drive it away so you should be sure you have a suitable method of collection.

The car will only be released to the new owner once funds for the full purchase price has been paid by bank transfer and has cleared into my account.

Thanks for looking at my car and good luck.
