Make Alvis Model 12/50 Two Seater Special Year 1928 Transmission--
Fuel Petrol Engine Size 1,645 ccm Mileage 1,247 Miles Emission class--
1928 Alvis TG 12/50.
We are pleased to offer this stark two seater Alvis 12/50.
WK 6951 would have started life as standard tourer or saloon but was rebuilt as a special retaining the original wings and bonnet, probably in the 1960 s. It has the larger 1645 cc engine.
In 1968 the Alvis was bought by Jeremy Davy Haines of Dulwich to use as an everyday car and was regularly driven between the owner's South London home and the Rolls Royce factory in Bristol where he worked on developing the engines for Concorde. In 1971 Mr Haines drove the car to Venice, returning over the Stelvio pass and during the 1970 s, 80 s and 90 s the Alvis was used extensively in rallies and hillclimbs, following which it was taken off the road for a rebuild.
In 2010 the Alvis was returned to the road for its 82 nd birthday, coincidentally featuring on the front cover of the VSCC Bulletin. The Alvis was then in continued use until Mr Haines passed away in 2015 and the car was subsequently purchased by our vendor.
The Alvis has since benefitted from fresh dark green coach paint on the body, a stainless steel exhaust system and a high quality rewire using armoured cable.
It is a joy to drive having the typical Alvis 12/50 attributes of willing performance and excellent steering – very much the archetypical Vintage sports car.
The 12/50 enjoys excellent support from the 12/50 Register and is of course eligible for all manner of events including those of the VSCC.
With their enviable reputation, 12/50 s are sought after motor cars and this must be the cheapest sporting Vintage 12/50 on the market.
