THE SHORT STORY.  
WE ARE PRESENTING THIS EXTRAORDINARY 1948 PACKARD. WAS SITTING FOR 10 -15 YEARS IN CLIMATE-CONTROLLED STORAGE BEFORE TAKING IT TO PROFESSIONAL SPECIALTY SHOP TO BRING IT BACK TO OE SPECS AND OPERATION. BRAKE. FRICTION. AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS ALL SERVICED. CAR WAS FRAME-ON RESTORED BY FORMER MACHINIST AS HIS RETIREMENT PROJECT FROM 1988 TO 1991. UNMODIFIED AND ORIGINAL IN EVERY WAY. RUNS - LOOKS - DRIVES LIKE 1948. WAS A GREAT CAR TO START WITH - RUNNING AND DRIVING - JUST COSMETICALLY CHALLENGED. ALL SHEET METAL LINES UP CORRECTLY - DOORS - HOOD -TRUNK - TOP - WINDOWS ALL WORK THE WAY THEY SHOULD. ELECTROMATIC CLUTCH OPERATES PROPERLY. THIS IS A GREAT CAR TO DRIVE - SHOW - ENJOY. ROCK SOLID AND DEPENDABLE.
THE MORE DETAILED VERSION.  
AT ITS FIRST RESTORATION IN THE LATE 80'S / EARLY 90'S BODY WAS STRIPPED TO BARE METAL. ALL CHROME TRIPLE-PLATED. ALL STAINLESS STEEL BUFFED AND POLISHED. ALL GLASS POLISHED OR REPLACED. ALWAYS KEPT IN CLIMATE-CONTROLLED STORAGE. UNDERCARRIAGE CLEANED AND PAINTED. PARTIAL FRONT FLOOR PANS REPLACED - APPROX 16" X 12" PANS ON EITHER SIDE. REST OF CAR HAD NO RUST ISSUES AT ALL. AS GENTLEMAN AGED HE USED THE CAR LESS AND LESS.  
IT SAT IDLE FOR THE PAST 12-15 YEARS BEFORE IT WAS SENT OUT FOR A REJUVENATION. BRAKE SYSTEM HAS ALL NEW FRICTION-HYDRAULICS (MASTER CYLINDER. WHEEL CYLINDERS. FLEX HOSES. ALONG WITH ALL AVAILABLE HARDWARE. WHEEL BEARINGS. AND SEALS REPLACED. ) CLUTCH DISTRIBUTION VALVE OVERHAULED AND LINKAGE ADJUSTED (WORKS VERY SMOOTH). HYDRAULIC MOTOR AND PUMP SENT OUT AND OVERHAULED. SEAT CYLINDER REPLACED. LINES FLUSHED AND HYDRAULIC FLUID IS NOW BEING USED. ENGINE RECEIVED MAJOR TUNEUP. CARBURETOR SENT OUT TO BE REMANUFACTURED. FULL SYSTEM FLUSHED. ADDED ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP. WATER PUMP REPLACED. COOLING SYSTEM SERVICED. NEW BELT - HOSES. NEW NAPA BATTERY.
ONCE MECHANICALS WERE SATISFIED AND CAR WAS OPERATED FOR 100 MILES FINAL ADJUSTMENTS WERE PERFORMED AND IT WAS TAKEN TO BODY SHOP FOR COSMETIC OVERHAUL. PAINT WAS RE-STRIPPED (DUE TO CHECKING OF LACQUER). ALL CHROME AND GLASS WAS BUFFED AND POLISHED. ALL THE SMALL DETAILS TENDED TO. DUPONT URETHANE PAINT IN ORIGINAL PACKARD IVORY WAS USED (PAINT CODE "T"). YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS PACKARD. AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION / ROAD TEST.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.  
GENTLEMAN WAS VERY SICK FOR THE LAST 2 - 3 YEARS. HAS SUCCUMBED AUGUST '13. BEING A MACHINIST HE WENT THE EXTRA MILE TO MAKE THIS CARE AS PERFECT AS POSSIBLE. THAT IS WHY EVERYTHING WORKS AND FITS SO WELL. HE USED THE CAR SPARINGLY. ALL INFORMATION HE COULD SUPPLY HAS BEEN INCLUDED IN AD. THE ORIGINAL FUEL PUMP HAS BEEN BYPASSED IN FAVOR OF ELECTRIC ONE. THERE IS A SWITCH UNDER DASH FOR IT. HEATER CORE HAS BEEN BYPASSED. HAS GAUGE USUALLY WORKS. BUT SOMETIMES IT STAYS ON EMPTY UNTIL YOU START THE CAR AGAIN. RADIO IS INOPERATIVE. THERE IS A "GI" SWITCH LOCATED ON THE TOE-BOARD FOR ELECTRICAL PROTECTION. AMP GAUGE WORKS (ALBEIT BACKWARD!). FULL LIBRARY OF SERVICE BOOKS INCLUDED (AS PICTURED)
