VW Splitscreen 1965 11 Window Camper/Bus.Fully Restored

For Sale 1965 VW Split Screen 11 Window Camper PTU 265 C It has come to the time when I have to sell my pride and joy. It has recently undergone a full restoration and overhaul with no expense spared.

The bus was originally imported from California in 2008 and purchased by myself in April 2012. Having used it last year I decided that in November 2012 I would invest money in renovating it giving it a fresh look. Dove Blue with a White roof. Wheels and bumpers was the choice. The vehicle was stripped down. transported to a local professional body shop where it then spent 3 months being prepped. primed and painted. Unlike 95% of vans of this age. mine required NO welding or panel replacement whatsoever resulting in all panels being completely original. The nearside required next to no filler whereas the offside rear quarter panel and front nose only required a small amount of skimming to ensure an excellent finish (Photos available to back this up). The exterior was painted in the original Dove Blue and VW Candy White for the Roof. Wheels and Bumpers.

The exterior is extremely straight and unmarked paintwork.

So in March this year the build-up began. Again no expense has been spared and many parts have been replaced.

The 1600 cc TP engine has been stripped down and re-build along with the installation of Twin Carbs. Many serviceable parts have been replaced with brand new parts. (Push rod tubes. rocker covers plus seals. battery. distributed cap. leads. blue coil. electric fuel pump. tin wear) Brand new Vintage Speed Sport Flow Exhaust fitted. worth over £400.

Chrome finished Safari Windows fitted along with Butty's window seals. 6 new steel pop out windows using original glass but new seals all round. New stainless screws all round including front cab doors as well as door seals. New Cab door handles New grey carpet throughout under the front seats. rear of the inside and blue/white chequered flooring mounted on a ply wood floor. New box seats in the rear incorporating a ¾ width rock n' roll bed. and recently upholstered seat cushions. Resulting in plenty of storage. New TMI perforated vinyl headlining and windows lining professionally installed and trimmed. Aluminium curtain rails and Grey/White chequer curtains.

New Hella rear lights. New seals for both front and rear lights units. New Front and Rear European style Bumpers. New stainless steel wiper arms and blades. New Stainless mirrors and mirror arms 20% Worn tyres all round. Wax oiled underneath. Three bow roof rack. Stickers have been added to the exterior to personalise it but can very easily be taken off if not required.

Outstanding work - Ash tray needs painting and sliding into the dash (I can get this done). I have a retro style radio that needs fitting along with speakers of your choice. (Very simple and straight forward job). Engine lid catch has been fitted and works fine. just needs the finisher bit that fits around the outside hole. Grab Handle needs fitting to the dash and a small amount of detailing around the interior trim where it meets the cab door seals.

To some this bus up. it is solid and ready to go. It is show standard and recently had in excess of £8. 00 spent on it. It has never let me down. drives superbly and attracts much attention both on the road and at shows.

Mot'd and taxed until May 2014.

It has been used no more than 6 – 8 times this year. It is always stored under cover and really needs to go to someone who can appreciate it. give it the time and enjoy it more than I can alongside my work commitments.
