Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire 346 Mk2 1955 Project (MOT & Tax Exempt)

This is a twin-carburettor model with 150bhp. it has a 4-speed manual gearbox with a column change.   Black over silver two-tone paint. and a red leather interior.   It looks like it was restored some time in the 80s or 90s. which would tie in with the registration date.

I have owned this car since 2007.   I took it off the road to restore in 2008. when we moved house.   However. I've realised that I simply don't have the free time needed to complete it.

Mechanically it worked well when I took it off the road. the engine started well. had good power and didn't make smoke.   The gearbox changed correctly. and the brakes were very good.   The electrics all worked. barring the radio.   We started the car up early in the year - using a fuel can linked to the pump - not sure what's in the tank.

I have done quite a bit of work on the interior; the leather seats were recoloured and restored. as were the door cards. I've made a new headlining (but not installed it) and there is some spare material. and the wood has been revarnished.   The instruments were all working. but the 2-part valve radio wasn't. it hums when switched on.   I made new carpets too. and there is some left-over for trimming.

The bodywork is where the restoration is needed.   The bottoms of the doors and front wings (which are bolt-on) have rusted.   I did some exploratory work on two of the doors and was in 2 minds over whether to fix them or replace them from the club stores.   The brightwork is pretty good though. only the rear bumper has lost its shine on the corners. the rest cleans up well.   The paint will then need some work.

Viewing is welcome. and encouraged.   Mail me for more info and pictures. or to chat about the car.

Sorry the pictures are a bit limited due to the car being in the garage. I hadn't the strength to push it all the way in and out alone :).   The last picture shows the car just before it went off the road - just to show the colourscheme and look of the car without walls in the way.

It pains me to sell it. I hate not finishing things. but family and work mean I need a more realistic project and the space to do it in.

The brakes and clutch are free. car will need to be trailered away.

Reserve is set to a bit less than project price.   Cash on collection preferred.   Car is currently on SORN.

Usual eBay stuff. if you've got less than 5 feedbacks please contact me before you bid or I'll cancel the bid.   You're bidding to buy not view etc.

Hi

I've added some pictures to Flikr. link below. in response to a couple of requests:

http://www. flickr. com/photos/velocitygallery/sets/72157636150475673/

These show the main areas of rust from the description (the door bottoms and one of the front wings).   There are other bits of bodywork and paint to do. but these are the most significant bits to do.
