THE ONLY ONE IN AUSTRALIA? VALIANT/ CHARGER COLLECTORS – SOMETHING DIFFERENT YET WITH FAMILIAR CHRYSLER MECHANICALS. I PURCHASED THIS UNUSUAL CAR 15 YEARS AGO IN BELGIUM – YES AN AMERICAN CAR BUILT FOR THE OVERSEAS MARKET & SOLD BY CHRYSLER EUROPE. I PURCHASED IT FROM THE DECEASED ESTATE OF THE ORIGINAL OWNER – IT HAS ONLY DONE 42 K KLMS FROM NEW (BEING EUROPEAN DELIVERY IT HAS A KLM SPEEDO).
THE MECHANICALS ARE VERY RECOGNIZABLE – UNDER THE BONNET IS THE RELIABLE 225 SLANT-SIX – AS FITTED TO OUR VALIANTS UP TO THE VG. AFTER WHICH WE WENT TO THE HEMI. YET HERE IS A CAR BUILT AS LATE AS 1978 STILL WITH THE BULLITT-PROOF MOTOR BELOVED BY EARLY VALIANT ENTHUSIASTS. IT IS FITTED WITH A “LEAN-BURN” CARB AND IS A TORQUE FLITE 3-SPEED AUTOMATIC. THE CAR'S SIZE IS SIMILAR TO OUR VALIANT SO IT IS VERY MANAGEABLE ON AUSTRALIAN ROADS AND WITH THE 6-CYL MOTOR GIVES DECENT FUEL CONSUMPTION. IN OTHER WORDS. IT IS A PRACTICAL AMERICAN CAR WHICH YOU COULD USE DAILY.
THE “MEDALLION SERIES” COUPE WAS THE TOP-OF-THE-LINE MID-SIZE. WITH SUMPTUOUS LEATHER & CARPET PLUS (FAKE) WOODGRAIN TRIM. THIS CAR ALSO HAS THE OPTIONAL ALUMINIUM WHEELS (ALMOST ALL CAME WITH STEEL WHEELS & HUBCAPS).
ANOTHER UNUSUAL & EXPENSIVE OPTION IS THE ELECTRIC STEEL SUNROOF – I'VE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER FITTED TO THIS MODEL.
GREAT FOR CRUISING. THE CAR WOULD MAKE A TERRIFIC LOW-RIDER IF YOU WANTED TO CONVERT IT.

CONDITION: THE COMBINATION OF A RICH GREEN COLOUR. WITH ½ VINYL ROOF (VERY 70'S) WITH MATCHING LEATHER INTERIOR. LOOKS STUNNING. THE PAINTWORK WAS A LITTLE FLAT SO I'VE DONE A FULL TWO-PACK RESPRAY – THAT ALONE COST ALMOST MY OPENING PRICE. THE BODYWORK IS NOW EXCELLENT – THERE IS NO RUST. THE INTERIOR IS IMMACULATE.
