Royal Pontiac was a dealership located in Royal Oak. Michigan.

R oyal Pontiac began making modifications to Pontiacs back in 1959.

The Royal Pontiac dealership worked closely with the Pontiac engineers to prepare most of the Pontiac test cars and campaigned Royal's race team. Royal also created high performance combinations for customers.

Royal was to Pontiac as Yenko was to Chevrolet. The Royal dealership was close to the Pontiac assembly plant and Royal assisted Pontiac with development and testing of special high performance parts.

This Concours winning Royal Tuned Trans Am is an excellent representative of The Best of American Muscle. With the Yenko Camaro and Shelby Mustang. The Pontiac Historical Society ( PHS ) has certified this 1971 Trans Am as manufactured and delivered and by Pontiac to Royal Pontiac in September of 1970 and sold by Royal Pontiac in October of 1970.

The Pontiac factory had done their part by increasing the engine from 400 cubic inches ( 6. 6 liters) to 455 cubic inches ( 7. 5 liters ) and increased the strength of the crank ( 4 bolt mains ) and pistons and concentration on handling with fast steering system . arge anti sway bars front and rear and Pontiac's "wide stance" .

Royal race experience did its part in adding huge headers. and refinement of the biggest Rochester carb with Royal's choice of parts. The cam change was designed to increase valve lift and torque to an estimated 500 ft. lbs.

The approximate weight is 3. 52 lbs.

This fully documented. numbers matching TA under went a "Body ON" Mechanical Restoration & Cosmetic Detailing several years ago.

It has been preserved in climate controlled storage with approximately 200-250 miles since.

Engine: Numbers Matching HO 455 cid.

The engine has had a fresh restoration by Pontiac. Only approximately 200 miles since the restoration for Concours and maintenance

(not yet broken in). Torque: approximately 500 foot-pounds (not dyno. confirmed)

Transm ission: Automatic

Performance suspension: The Trans Am has both a front 1. 250 in. stabilizer bar and a rear 0. 875 in. stabilizer bar.
