Restored early 1961 Citroen 2CV with engine upgrade for sale
Current customer rating:
Heres an opportunity to grab a very presentable early 2 CV (suicide doors/speedo driven wipers/deckchair seats) which has undergone a complete restoration.
The car was first registered in Belgium in 1961. but soon after was imported into the UK - the V 5 shows 2 owners since 1962!
I bought the car last year following work done by the previous owner including new floorpan/bulkhead/interior and reworked 425 cc engine - but I soon realised that on todays road the 12 bhp 425 performance is simply inadequate. with a queue of cars behind you on any journey. so I decided to install a later 34 bhp 602 cc 2 CV unit. This now allows strong 50 mph cruising alongside other traffic.
The engine installation provided further benefit with 12 v electrics and disc brakes. again making a much more useable classic.
Highlight of the conversion are Reconditioned 602 cc engine Updated gearbox with new clutch and renewed oil New clutch New discs/pads Electronic ignition - the latest 123 pointless ignition for better starting/response and economy with a wifi link to your i Phone that displays rpm/gps speed plus other engine data! The system can in fact even retune ignition timing from your phone! Hydraulic dampers - the original friction dampers are woefully inadequate. the car now has a controlled gliding ride.
Bodywork is of course in superb order. even the inner wheelarches are pristine. The interior is as new. with those characterful and removable original deckchair seats.
There is a huge history file with the car. including the original bluff log book The original 425 engine/brake pedals/master cylinder/brake drums etc are still present. Ill include these in the sale if bids exceed 6 k (the 425 'flat' headlight frame alone would be over £200. with perhaps £1500 worth of early 2 CV parts available in total).
I also have a ripple bonnet that came with the car but will be listing this separately.
