FIAT DUCATO ONE-OFF SPIDER BY CARROZZERIA INTROZZI, SIMPLY PERFECT

Under the hammer a very special vehicle. the only existing example of Fiat Ducato Spyder-One. an open top seven seats minibus built in 1986 by carrozzeria Introzzi. a coachbuilder based in Lipomo. near Lake Como (some pictures show it during the building process. Introzzi was famous for its ambulances. hearses. promotional vehicles and one-offs like a Giulia Super Torpedo built fot Italian President Saragat in 1966). It was showed at the Turin Motor show that year. then was used (little) for some years by Fiat to drive visitors around its factories in Turin. It was sold and road registered in 1992 and reappeared on the Capri island to be used as an open air taxi for some time. I am selling it on behalf of a friend. the third owner. who has taken it back to the Turin area about two years ago; sadly now he needs urgently space and reluctanctly decided to sell it. preferably to a serious enthusiast/collector. The vehicle is absolutely original. it is as when it left the Introzzi's workshop thirty years ago. in excellent conditions from every point of view. Original angular style and a two tone blue body is (hand) made of steel (Introzzi left untouched only the front scuttle and the floorpan). structural stiffness is assured by a longitudinal steel "hoop"; one door on the right side gives access to seven seats (steel frame + blue vynil cushions). a rear compartment with two small hatches gives some luggage space. GRP front and rear bumpers. Mechanically the Spyder-One is standard Ducato. FWD. transversely mounted 2445 cc 72 HP Fiat-Sofim normally aspirated diesel engine. five speed gearbox. no PAS. McPherson struts at the front (plus front discs brakes) and a beam axle on leaf springs at the rear. It runs and drives beautifully. the odometer shows only 28000 km (17500 miles). and it is ready to be driven everywhere (of course you need a bit of bravery to drive it in bad weather as it hasn't any soft or hard top to be put on it. but the Ducato Spyder-One by Introzzi can be an exhilarating recreational or promotional vehicle!). It currently resides in Giaveno. 30 km from Turin. and can be picked up locally (using a trailer/flat bed truck or driving it to its final destination) or delivered in Western Europe by a professional prestige/classic/sports car transporter (another friend of mine) at a little extra costs. A new Italian MoT certificate will be issued before delivery. the new owner will receive some historical material. pictures taken at the Introzzi's factory during vehicle manufacturing and the original brochure.
