Riley 1.5 RME for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 623 votes
Hi there.  I am relisting my Riley 1. 5 RME after 1. 00 page views and 160 watchers with surprisingly no one coming to see her !! There is no reserve . and I start at the minimum I would like for her.  She is in fantastic unrestored condition and with great history .  I bought her in May 2012. covering around 1. 00 miles since. but I have financial commitments to meet and I must let her go.  I had the seats professionally cleaned and treated by a local classic car restorer. giving a fresh feel to the inside. but remaining in keeping with the age and general feel of the car.  I would say the rear seat is in excellent condition. and the front seats are as you would expect for a car this age. showing more wear. The drivers seat has obviously had more wear and tear over the years and some stitching has come undone. but considering the fantastic overall condition of the car otherwise. this is minor I feel. and could be rectified with further work.  I also had electronic ignition fitted to ensure good starting and fuel economy.  She is therefore. very reliable and a delight to drive.  The engine is very willing and has been well maintained. She has just turned the clock and now shows 15 miles at the time of placing this listing.
This car has obviously been well looked after and cherished during its lifetime. and has a huge accompanying amount of documentation and history from 1957 to 1996.  A Mr Magrath of Poole. Dorset bought her in 1957 and documented every journey he made. every pint of oil. gallon of petrol. and all work and maintenance undertaken by garages until he sold her in 1988.  There is also a file full of copies of letters he wrote to garages and their invoices over this period.  The following owner continued this idea and kept records until 1996 when the entries taper off.  I have never seen such history on a car before. and it makes fascinating reading.
Although a vehicle of this age now no longer requires an MOT certificate. I would not be happy to sell without ensuring road worthiness. and so she has an MOT certificate to July 2014. The only work necessary to pass was steering rack boot (rubber). rear spring shackle bushes and steering boot and control arm seal - all in with MOT and VAT at £247. 80.  There was an advisory on the drivers seat. which was secured and passed.
The bodywork is fantastic for a car this age. with no signs of rust other than a suggestion of bubbling in a very small area (about 2 inches square around one of the screws which secures the rear wheel skirt on the offside .  The nearside in the same area had a one inch square piece of paint flake off for the MOT and has been repainted.  Unless you are pointed at these areas you probably would not even notice.  The paintwork and chrome my be a little dimmer than when she first took to the roads in 1955. but she is very much a head turner!  Also included is the original Riley 1. 5 RME instruction book and a CD Workshop Manual.
I would very much recommend viewing the car in person first before bidding to ensure you are happy with her.  I would like cash on collection and £200 deposit via paypal if you are the successful bidder before paying in full on collection.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. except do I have a buy it now price and would I consider part exchanging it for another car!.
Thank you for viewing.
