Routemaster bus AEC

This is RM1771 a very rare example of an original RM. This RM was withdrawn from service in the early 1980s and as such is unmodified and very original and a complete bus.
It has a rare Leyland engine fitted. retains its original interior lighting. ear style indicators and original lights at the rear with the single brake light. Flooring is also original. This is a prime candidate for a serious collector.
Given the current market and appreciating value of these vehicles only serious offers will be consider. If you are serious about buying then we can arrange a viewing. however the storage yard is not local to us so please. no tourists. Bus is currently stored in Northfleet. Kent. Pictures have been chosen to give an accurate view of current state and appearance of the bodywork. This is a private sale.
Current state: The bus has been in storage for the last 3 years awaiting restoration. We have been resisting selling this bus as we know how hard it is to find a complete original example. However pressures on storage space mean that we are now offering this vehicle for sale.
Despite appearance in the photos. those of you know are experienced with restoration will know that there is not much work to be done here to get this vehicle up to scratch.
Cosmetics:
All seats and frames are with the bus. Seats have been re-upholstered at some point in the past and all covers are in good condition.
Rexine has been stripped from the walls upper and lower decks.  Either you can sand and paint or re-cover.
Ceilings have been restored and re-sprayed in original Sung yellow. no expense spared. Beading was removed and re-riveted with aluminium rivals to prevent corrosion. Cost £4. 00
Lower deck exterior paneling could do with some replacement panels and filler.  Although the upper deck section is very straight. Roof could do with some attention. Bus retains original Aluminium dome. not a fiber glass dome.
Mechanical state:
Before going into storage rear brake drums had been replaced. exhaust flex had been replaced and other basic maintenance but will need more mechanical work before being fit for the road.
Engine runs but will need a full service. Bus was driven into the yard 3 years ago and before that had just completed a round island tour of the isle of white for a political campaign.
Bus was inspected before going into storage. A and B frames are in good condition. No advanced corrosion present.
Currently SORN. Will need recovering as not fit to drive on public roads or you can have current garage perform the work. Sold as seen.
