FORD RS200 EVO REPLICA BY MILL AUTO CONVERSIONS. 2008  'K550 BHP PLATE. FULLY ROAD LEGAL PASSED IVA TESSED JAN 2013Very rare and totally unique RS200 replica designed and built by Trevor Lewis of Mill Auto Conversions. Completed in 2008 this vehicle is particularly well detailed and engineered and runs Subaru 4wd running gear with the early series EJ20 2. 0 litre 280bhp engine. JDM transmission. Bradn new multi adjustable coilover suspension. With correctly shaped body panels to original Ford specification. and with opening rear clam. it replicates the external appearance of the original cars in a way that very few other recreations do. as the majority utilise panels of the wrong dimensions. in particular the front wings. and have an incorrectly opening rear clam. Weighing just 1200kg. it is extremely quick and offers true supercar performance in terms of pace. handling and braking capabilities. massive specification. discussed in more detail later on. Very correctly detailed. externally. this vehicle is almost indistinguishable from the real thing.

this car is drove most weeks in the past 5 years. it runs spot on and is very well maintained. it was recently at mallory park for the ppc magazine and will be having a feature run on it in a few months. so the buyer can enjoy seeing there car in a magazine ;-)

The original RS200 came about in the mid 80s as a replacement for the stillborn RS1700T Group B project. Conceived purely as a competition vehicle. a certain number had to be produced in road guise to allow homologation of the vehicle type for motorsport purposes. It is fair to say that whilst the road cars were hugely desirable in a way that only 'special' cars of this nature can be. they were also hugely flawed and intentionally gave no concession whatsoever to comfort or ease of use. Indeed. a November 1986 appraisal by Autocar Magazine stated that 'The RS200 gearchange is not good. Many people. we suspect. would have trouble changing gear in the car at all'. They went on to say that it took one of their senior road testers  several hundred miles before he could achieve a clean downchange from fifth to fourth. However. that is by the by. the RS200 never made any pretence of it's hard core nature. and of course that was the appeal of the car for many people. and very much so the appeal of the car today. Now hugely sought after. and very collectible. low mileage road examples today are worth in the region of £100000 or so.

The road cars were powered by a 1. 8 litre Cosworth engine designated  'BDT' (Belt Driven Turbo) a unit which had evolved from the F2 Cosworth BDA of the late 60s and early 70s. and which had first seen road action in the Ford Escort RS1600. In standard road guise it developed 'only' 230bhp. but with a good torque figure of 280 lb/ft. The performance offered was very similar overall to the original Sierra RS Cosworth 3-door which was still in Ford's production line up at the time. Of course. the road car engines only hinted at the power potential. and when enlarged 2. 1 litre BDT 'Evolution' engines appeared in motorsport they were producing 600bhp or so.

This RS200 EVO replica. by Trevor Lewis of Mill Auto Conversions. is genuinely unique and without doubt one of the very best of it's kind. This particular car was Trevor's 3rd impreza based RS200. It should be viewed in it's own right. rather than a replica of something else. as a 280bhp. 1200kg. 4wd  supercar. with huge handling and braking capability  courtesy of it's New fully adjustable coilover suspension and impreza brakes all round. nbsp; with easy potential for 450-500bhp/ton power to weight ratio. coupled with looks and presence almost unlike anything else.

As discussed. this vehicle offers great pace. handling and braking characteristics. With it's high power to weight ratio. and phenomenal traction. it offers 0-60mph in the mid 5 secs territory. with tractable. low lag. devastating mid-range performance. More than this. it delivers this performance in a totally untemperamental and drivable manner with light controls and all round ease of use. The high interior specification. which includes electric windows. electric folding mirrors. proper heating and ventilation. Truly an absolute weapon for the race track. or a very usable devastatingly quick road car.

This car is particularly well detailed. Points of note include the bonnet mounted lamp-pod with four spotlights and huge front mounted intercooler. 'ears and roof scoop' towards the rear of the roof. As already mentioned. this vehicle is unique amongst all other recreations in utilising body panels formed to original Ford specification dimensions. and also has the correct opening rear clam. Whilst it differs significantly under the skin from the original car's format. it is as close in it's external appearance as it could possibly be to what it replicates. and even the keenest eye would need a close look to decipher it's originality. It is also worth mentioning that the vehicle wears a particularly nice. registration number. that being K550 BHP. thus further adding to it's overall detail.

The interior does differ somewhat from an original RS200. It utilises a Subaru Impreza dashboard. complete with all instrumentation and switchgear. in addition to greatly enhanced display and controller units as discussed in the specification listed above. truly eye catching blue seats and blue harnesses. blue trimmed steering wheel. electric windows. electric mirrors and remote central door locking with alarm.

As already mentioned. this car should not be seen as a replica. but viewed in it's own right as a very rare. quite stunning and most unusual high performance. properly engineered. 280bhp 4wd race car for the road. If you are looking for one of these. or indeed. any other lightweight. high power to weight ratio sports car with truly stunning looks and headturning appeal then this particular vehicle is very hard to beat.

nearly forgot the bad bits are:-

front wheels have a few scuffs

spotlight pod has some scuffs on and isnt wired up

and it has a slight oil drip from the drivers cam cover that drips onto the exhaust and from time to time when you get out of the car. it smells of burining oil. a typically common problem on the impreza engine.

please no offers for p/x thanks but im not interested

I am very interested in building a something like this. The RS200 is a stunning vehicle, but I'm having a very hard time finding someone with molds for the body. I would love some more info on the builder if you have any. Thanks
