1972 CITROEN SM for sale

Introduced in 1970 following the takeover of Maserati by Citroen just 2 years earlier. the SM was a perfect marriage of performance. handling and style. Hugely acclaimed by motoring journalists of the time. the SM borrowed heavily from the DS and featured hydro pneumatic self-levelling suspension and variable assist power steering. This gave a ride quality not seen before (any any speed) and steering that was more akin to a go-cart than an intercontinental GT car.
Our car dates from 1972 and was purchased in 1995 by an Italian Count residing in Holland Park. London. Fairly soon after purchase he took the car on a continental tour ultimately finishing at his villa in Tuscany. Sadly whilst there. the car was involved in a minor accident and was subsequently driven into a barn where it remained for the next 20 years. Recently brought back to the UK. the car now requires cosmetic refurbishment but is essentially rust-free. It starts. runs and drives and the suspension raises and lowers the car smoothly. The SM is sold with a repair front panel and comes with sundry paperwork. an old MOT (from 1995) and a current V 5.
