Current customer rating:
1959 PEERLES GT PHASE 2 – A very rare opportunity to purchase one of 50 Phase ll Peerless vehicles ever made and of 325 Peerless GT's made in total. This vehicle started life as a racing cars in 1959 and was said to have been raced by Sir Peter Graham-moon before being used on the road for the majority of its life there after.
There is is a fantastic history file with this vehicle. Many photos of the vehicle from the 60's are available along with a recent magazine article and stacks of receipts from regular maintenance and restoration work.
The pictured shown below was taken at Silvestone 2012.
This Peerless in particular (due to its age) qualifies for all historic racing events such as Le mans Classic due to the make and model's racing heritage.
Peerless were a British based motor company who constructed the “GT” using a light weight tubular chassis along with an even lighter fibreglass body while using Triumph TR 3 engines and running gear. This GT has benefited from having a complete new chassis in 2001 which has been rust protected along with a modified engine and drivetrain. all Modifications were carried our by well known TR specialists “TR enterprises” which included: Servo assisted disc brakes. 45 DCOE Weber carbs. Piper sport racing cam. vendilla forged 89 mm pistons. carrillo forged connecting rods. 5 kg lightened flywheel and AP racing diaphragm clutch and balanced crank. All of these modifications proved to make a massive performance jump from 95 BHP as standard to 158 BHP as shown on a Dyno run print out. A kenlowe fan is also fitted to help with cooling.
Other modifications are also present such as twin facet electric fuel pumps feeding both fuel tanks. A full manifold back stainless steel exhaust system. parabolic springs are present on the rear and more durable springs up front giving a harder but much better handling experience. A vehicle kill switch and rainlight are also fitted.
Also provided with the car are the original SU carburettors. manifolds and bumper overriders.
A fantastic. responsive driving experience far beyond the era that this vehicle was built. Widely known to out perform the Triumph TR 3 where the power and transmission are identical.
Due to this vehicle racing potential the bodywork has been left with much to be desired. there are areas of “crazing” present which can be easily remedied at a good body shop. As the body is fibreglass there is no corrosion whatsoever – neither is there and corrosion on the chassis.
A vehicle with fantastic potential as either a historic racing car or a fast road leisure vehicle.
