The Jaguar XJ (X 300) series was manufactured between 1994 and
1997. It was the first XJ produced entirely under Ford ownership
and can be considered an evolution of the outgoing XJ 40 generation.
Like all previous XJ generations. it features the Jaguar
independent rear suspension arrangement. The design of the X 300
placed emphasis on improved build quality. improved reliability and
a return to traditional Jaguar styling elements. At the car's
launch in October 1994 at the Paris Motor Show. Jaguar marketing
material made use of the phrase "New Series XJ" to describe the
X 300 models. The X 300 series represented the result of a £200
million facilities renewal program by Ford. The program introduced
state-of-the-art automated body welding robots manufactured by
Nissan and was intended to show the future direction of the British
auto industry. To honor Jaguar's achievements. Queen Elizabeth II
visited the Browns Lane factory in December 1994 and ordered a
British Racing Green X 305 Daimler Double Six for her personal use.
This was the Queen's second visit to Jaguar's Coventry factory
since 1956.
This 1995. four litre Jaguar Sovereign has only covered 20. 00
miles from new. purchased by Colin Wills. chairman of Wills
Tobacco. the car was chauffeur driven from new. Mr. Wills passed
away in 1997 leaving the Jaguar to his driver. Mr. M. Rudman with
11. 00 miles on odometer. Mr. Rudman used it sparingly. keeping the
car in storage for most of the time until 2010 when the Wills
family purchased the car back and since only added a further 30
miles to the mileage total. Finished in Westminster Blue with
oatmeal leather interior. this Sovereign is supplied with a V 5 C
registration document. an Mo T test certificate which expires in
February 2016. the original hand book pack. spare keys and a file
containing old Mo T test certificates and invoices.
