So often. in our dealings with classic cars. we are left to assess the quality of restoration work. which can be good. bad or indifferent.
Occasionally. we come across a classic vehicle that has been so beautifully restored we cannot find fault with it. Such is the case with Ray Mc Caffreys Land Rover Series II.
Ray is one of the Classic Car movements unsung heroes. He restores a car every two years or so. His attitude is that a car will be finished when its finished. and it needs to be as close to perfect as possible. His attention to detail knows no bounds.
This Land Rover came into being in August 1961. As an RAF vehicle it was destined for RAF High Ercall. It was demobbed in 1971. The thinking behind the restoration was to keep it as faithful to its original specification as possible. All receipts and a collection of photos bear witness to the painstaking process of a total. nut and bolt restoration.
In summary. this Land Rover is as good as it gets. and would satisfy the most discerning of collectors.
