Series 2 Ex Army Land Rover for sale
Current customer rating:
1958 Series 2 Land Rover
Ex-Army Registration Number (ARN) 110-595
Purchased and used by the Australian Army in 1958 then left neglected and unloved off and on for around 58 years. this 88 inch Short Wheel Base Land Rover has been restored over 18 months back to great condition for its new owner. I have enough vehicles.
This vehicle could be historically registered or could be fully registered and is sold without a roadworthy.
For information: Historic Registration costs less than $100 per year here in NSW and similar costs in other states.
I doubt you will find a good rust free example like this any more as most have gone to Land Rover Heaven.
No rust in chassis
No rust in the bulkhead/firewall
By no means a showroom restoration. as the dents and patina are retained as is 90% of the original vehicle.
Brakes work and stop.
What's new?
New paint. New brake wheel cylinders.
New hand brake shoes. New brake hoses. New master cylinder New clutch master and slave cylinders clutch plumbing. New Pedal rubbers. New tyres. New lights. New Battery
New radius rods on all steering points. A wiring harness which works with a full rewire. An alternator so you have capacity to run real lighting.
The engine has been replaced with later Series 2 A variant. excellent compression. including new fuel pump. new water pump. New reproduction carburettor. ew thermostat. all new ignition components i. e. points plugs leads. coil. distributor cap. New exhaust system (complete)
doors replaced. tailgate replaced. tub repaired as necessary. steering wheel refurbished and painted . indicators function.
Period correct army tactical plate holders. lift rings. etc for Series 2.
Seats are in good original condition.
Probably another 100 things I have forgotten.
What's not included?
Canopy and bows. Door tops.
What's not perfect?
Clutch has a little air in the line.
Handbrake shoes were replaced but they are not gripping as they are new and not bedded in. This takes a few more drives. I am including a second hand brake handle which requires less effort to pull on as it's longer and was adopted on late Series 2 a's.
Remember it was built in 1958 so it drives like a 1958 Land Rover.
Can I buy it now?
Yes.
Yes. there is a Reserve.
I will not end the Auction early.
Once the reserve is met: You bid. you buy. RESERVE IS LOWERED significantly.
Payment STRICTLY as per e Bay rules. 10% non-refundable deposit payable. Pickup within 14 days.
IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY THEN DON'T BID. You just upset all the genuine bidders.
