More About the Dodge History:

The production numbers are a little vague. Most were left in the European theatre after the war. While the provenience for this particular vehicle remains unknown. it is unlikely that it ever left the states. The 1/2 ton is considerably more nimble and is easier to drive. Early titled WC23.

 

“The Dodge WC series was a range of light military trucks produced by Dodge during World War II. The series included weapon carriers. telephone installation trucks. ambulances. reconnaissance vehicles. mobile workshops and command cars. They were replaced after the war by the Dodge M-series vehicles. WC was a Dodge model code: W for 1941 and C for half-ton rating. The C code was retained for the ¾ ton and 1½ ton 6×6 Dodges. [1]

With the outbreak of World War II. America’s mighty manufacturing companies went to work. As the government handed out contracts for anything from food to airplanes. America’s industrial concerns both big and small built the supplies that enabled the United States to gain victory. Of all of the industries that built war supplies. the nation’s car builders were at the forefront. Possessing the foundries and tooling needed to make large and heavy-duty machines; companies like Ford. Cadillac. and Chrysler built the tools of war. Ford’s famous Willow Run bomber plant was a marvel of engineering and Cadillac’s engines powered the Army’s tanks. The Chrysler Corporation with its mighty industrial power built a plethora of war supplies from a 30-cylinder tank engine. built by DeSoto to the 40mm Bofors gun made at the Plymouth axle plant. Among Chrysler’s contributions to the war effort was the Dodge WC Command Car. With years of experience in building automobiles. Dodge certainly knew how to build a car. but their WC Command Car was nothing like a passenger car. The Dodge Command Car featured here is a 1944 and is a splendid restoration of this most historic vehicle. One look is all it takes to realize that this is not a light-duty vehicle. Its four-wheel drive. military tires. and iron guarded headlights speak to a time of war and not of personal luxury. It is also equipped with a heavy-duty front-end winch. which is capable of pulling an incredible 5. 00 pounds. With a top speed of just 55 miles per hour. this WC Command Car was built for serious off-road work. The dedication to its authentic restoration is clearly evident in all facets of this most remarkable machine. As the story goes. this Dodge Command Car was abandoned by the troops after World War II and wound up being used by dignitaries for embassy work. Transport

We do not like to broker out any of our shipping.  We handle all arrangements in house so that we know exactlty where the vehicle is from point A to B.  We highly suggest only using enclosed shipping for vintage and exotic vehicles.  It is on average a couple of hundred dollars more but is well worth it when you think about how open carriers work with holding yards and packed shipping trucks. AND TO PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT 

We use the Central Dispatch carrier program and we do this because any carrier that wants to be affiliated with them has to licensed. insured. and bonded.  This is to protect your vehicle up until you recieve it.  

*Please note that the vehicle cannot be shipped until the first set of documents containing the bill of sale. tax exemption form. etc… has been returned to the dealership.   The documents are sent immediately to you after you have purchased the vehicle in full.   After these are sent back the vehicle is ready to ship and title will be mailed out. *
